Abbe Cullen
Welcome. If you’ve been putting yourself last for too long, now may be the time to explore your needs, seek guidance for healing, and release what you’re ready to let go of. Together, we can identify your strengths, build support, and reduce or eliminate the limitations you’ve been facing. I’m pleased to offer therapeutic services through this online platform as a Licensed Professional Counselor. I have worked in counseling psychology since earning my master’s degree in 2015 and have more than 20 years of experience in human services. Throughout my career, I have helped clients improve their quality of life through job search support and coaching, case management, educational groups, and recovery programs.
First session
Our first session will be an opportunity for us to get to know each other and gather important information. We’ll also review the details of meeting virtually, including privacy and attendance expectations, and begin setting treatment goals that support the future you want to create.
Strengths
My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and grounded in helping you feel seen, heard, and supported. As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I understand the importance of building trust so you can feel safe setting aside the masks you may have needed to wear. I also value the role of relationships and believe they can be one of the most meaningful influences in our lives. I also recognize that each person begins from a different place, with a need to feel valued and a reason to have hope. Using mindfulness practices, we can begin to look at life from a new perspective. Through a cognitive behavioral framework, we can work to reframe negative thoughts and support the changes you want to create within yourself.
Ideal clients
My ideal client is someone who is ready to work together as a team to build a path toward their dreams, no matter their age or stage of life. They may be looking to reconnect with the light within themselves—the light they feared had gone out, but that has always been quietly present. They want to rediscover the possibilities they may have forgotten and, once they remember them, begin to celebrate the strength, hope, and potential that have been there all along.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I have more than 10 years of experience helping clients use cognitive behavioral therapy to better understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. In our work together, we can identify patterns that may be contributing to stress, anxiety, low mood, or feeling stuck, and then develop practical strategies to respond in healthier, more effective ways. My goal is to help clients build insight, strengthen coping skills, and create meaningful change that supports their overall well-being.
Attachment-based
An attachment-based approach explores how early relationships and life experiences may shape the way you connect with others, respond to stress, and understand your own needs. In therapy, we can use this awareness to strengthen self-understanding, build healthier relationship patterns, and support a greater sense of safety, trust, and emotional connection.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
A mindfulness-based approach helps you build awareness of your thoughts, emotions, and physical responses in the present moment. In therapy, this can support greater calm, self-compassion, and the ability to respond to challenges with more clarity and intention.
Motivational Interviewing
Motivational interviewing helps clients explore their goals, clarify what matters most to them, and strengthen their confidence in making meaningful changes. In session, this approach supports open conversation, respects your pace, and helps you identify the motivation needed to move forward.
