Hi my name is Sonia and I received my Masters from Sul Ross State University. I have been practicing for 5 years and I will be practicing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which is commonly called CBT. I will help you turn your negative thoughts into positive thoughts. For example: if you suffer from depression the goal is to diminish symptoms by correcting distorted thinking based on negative self-perceptions and expectations.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we will start our introductions of each other and then discuss challenges you are struggling with. This discussion will help me understand you and I will develop a specific plan/goal for you.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strengths as a therapist is my ability to be nonjudgmental, provide empathy, a good listener, and humorous.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I love working with adolescents and adults of all ages when they come to seek help because they are exhausted from trying to "fix" it themselves. When there are therapists, such as myself, who provide you with help when you need it. I will provide a safe environment to share your innermost thoughts. My goal is to help you become the best version of yourself.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is primarily to change the negative thoughts into positive thoughts. Together we would identify stressors and triggers that attribute to negative thoughts and behaviors and implement strategies to change unwanted patterns.

Psychoeducation

I use psycho education to provide my clients to further extend their understanding of concepts that we use in therapy
