Welcome to my page! I greatly appreciate you taking the time to read through and get to know a little bit more about me. I went into mental health therapy because I enjoyed learning about the mind and the brain, and I love being able to help people. While my background is in mental health, I have a license in social work. I enjoy the broader scope that my license affords me. I feel that it allows me to offer a broader perspective on things and serve a wider variety of people. I aim to expand as I grow and develop in my practice. I want to be able to give the best therapy I can. Which is why I am not only honest with myself about my strengths but also where my limitations are. My goal is for everyone to get the help they need, whether I am the person who provides that or not. Without going into too much detail, I have had my fair share of adverse experiences. While I was fortunate enough to have people who were well-meaning, they were unable to support me in the way that I needed them to. Being a therapist allows me to be that person who has the tools to support people.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During our first session, I will be orienting you to therapy with me and therapy with grow. I will start with some psychoeducation on trauma and defense mechanisms, as well as methods for building body awareness. We will then talk about how you want to structure therapy. We will go through a treatment plan. This is the session where I will be doing a lot of talking, but the goal is to set up therapy so that our future sessions can run more smoothly.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I've been told I'm caring, approachable, and knowledgeable. Trauma involves your entire body; different pains sit in different places within our bodies. I work on incorporating the whole body, not just your mind in my therapy. In the very first session, I teach clients how to use body scans to build up passive awareness. I incorporate real world solutions and offer homework to my clients so that they may practice outside of therapy.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal client is ready and willing to learn. Someone who may be starting out on their mental health journey, or is coming back to learn more. I also love being able to provide information not only about trauma and defense mechanisms, but therapy as a whole. I genuinely believe that there is a lack of knowledge about how therapy can help people and how to find the right therapist for yourself.

My treatment methods

Trauma Informed Care

I specialize in trauma, grief, and body awareness. Trauma is held not only in your mind but in your body. While in sessions, I focus on building body awareness to teach my clients how to notice when their brains and bodies are experiencing triggers and intense emotions.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I work with clients to find new ways to reframe their thinking processes and unlearn unhelpful lessons. Through cognitive behavioral therapy, we can identify how our thought processes influence our perception of different situations and subsequently how we feel about those situations.

Psychoeducation

I love providing psychoeducation to my clients about how their emotions show up within themselves and within other people. I truly believe that having this knowledge helps to build emotional intelligence and reduce instances of someone's mind filling in the blanks with unhelpful narratives.

Grief Therapy

There is a tremendous amount of grief that comes with healing from trauma as people learn and remember all the experiences and connections they missed out on due to the influence of trauma. It permeates virtually every aspect of our lives and can make it difficult to not only trust other people but ourselves as well.

Psychoanalytic

I love delving into the mind and the brain and why people do things. I greatly enjoy being able to help my clients make sense of their feelings, and to help them understand where certain ideas and mindsets originated. I believe that understanding where things come from allows us to understand how they may have been useful to us in the past, how they may still be useful to us, and how they may no longer be useful.
