(she/her)
Hi, I’m Dominique Austin! Outside of the therapy room, I find joy in creativity, connection, and lifelong learning. I love to explore new perspectives through travel, yoga, and museums in the city. At home, I find peace in caring for my plants while enjoying a neo soul playlist. Friends and family often describe me as empathetic, loving, and comical at times, qualities I like to carry into all areas of my life. Professionally, I began my career in social work after receiving my bachelors from The University of North Texas. Initially serving as an advocate for underprivileged communities, I took pleasure in fundraising and connecting individuals to resources that improved their lifestyle. I furthered my education at Texas Woman's University where I received my Masters in Counseling and Human Development and continued my passion for healing work through trauma and grief therapy for individuals impacted by homelessness, sexual assault, and domestic violence.
My focus for our first session is to create a safe and welcoming space where you feel comfortable. We’ll spend time getting to know each other, exploring your goals for therapy, and beginning to build a foundation of trust. I also encourage you to ask questions and share what’s important to you, so the process feels collaborative from the very start.
What makes me unique as a therapist is that I’m not only trained in this work, but I’ve lived it. As a survivor of sexual assault, I truly empathize with the healing journey and understand the courage it takes to begin. I’ve done the very work I encourage my clients to explore, which allows me to show up with authenticity, compassion, and hope. With my multifaceted personality, I bring both depth and warmth to sessions, many of my clients have shared that it feels like talking with a trusted best friend.
I feel honored to support women between 18 and 40 who have experienced sexual assault or domestic violence. My ideal clients are those who are open to exploring holistic and integrative practices, such as mindfulness, breath-work, yoga, or creative expression as part of their healing journey. Together, we create a safe and nurturing space to rediscover strength, balance, and connection as you return to your authentic self.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT is based on the connection of our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors and the influence they play on each other. When experiencing trauma or stress to the brain, it often develops automatic negative thoughts that directly effects our emotions and behaviors. From grief to trauma, CBT interventions have been my go to, research based interventions, that assist in unraveling the cobwebs of trauma. These interventions include thought logs, guided journals, and psychoeducation.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
Mindfulness is the ability to observe your thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations in the present moment free of judgement. Through holistic practices like guided meditations, yoga, and affirmations we will explore and reframe your cognitive distortions.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
Client centered therapy provides a judgment free space for you to explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences through self-development. Although I am the professional counselor, I am not the expert on your life, so the goal is to provide a safe space for you to process and discover your divine purpose in life.

I have really enjoyed my time working with Dom! I can't tell you how many "a-ha!" moments have happened during sessions. One of the thing I like most is that she is really thoughtful in her approach - she has an action plan that allows you to focus on the items that matter most to you, she provides activities + resources so that you can continue to work on issues between sessions, and she reminds you of the progress you've made and helps you handle the natural ebbs that occur too. She's awesome

Dominique is a warm and understanding. Her sessions allow me to open up while feeling safe. She is rooted in her training and science but also relatable and authentic. She gently but effectively challenges me to make changes to improve. In addition to talk therapy, she also provides me with helpful tools, types of activities and mediations, and resources that feel personalized to me and my needs and allow me to continue to grow outside of appointments.

If you’re looking for a warm mellow therapy experience Dominique is the perfect fit. I went into our first session a bit nervous, but after being able to talk with her and experience a couple sessions with her, I’m not nervous and I’ve made a lot of progress.
