I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in the state of Connecticut. I have practiced as an LCSW for 13 years and worked as a master of social worker (MSW) for several years prior to becoming licensed. I have practiced in a number of settings. I have utilized multiple treatment modalities. I offer a safe and compassionate space for individuals work on their own individual challenges and take steps toward personal growth. I utilize tools from cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy and/or applied behavior analysis as applicable to each individualized therapeutic circumstance.
In the first session, I would have reviewed your intake questionnaire. I will seek clarification for any missing information and may need to ask some follow up questions. I will ask questions related to safety. I will want to establish goals in treatment which would be related to your current challenge/presenting problem or concern.
I have been told by clients that I am relatable and they feel comfortable sharing with me. I am honest and genuine so I do keep it real. That sometimes means therapeutically confronting things you may not want to address. I believe I do that respectfully, honoring you as an individual and your vulnerability.
Self-disclosure can be scary as we allow ourselves to be vulnerable in doing so. My expectation as your therapist is that you afford yourself an act of bravery in talking about who you are, what you are challenged by and what vision you have for yourself. We will establish and develop a therapeutic relationship so that you can overcome challenges and I can help guide you on your journey of personal growth. Note: I currently serve adult population only.
