Patricia Keblis

LMFT3 years of experience

Hi, I'm Patricia Keblis, LMFT, and I'm a trauma-informed therapist providing individual, couples, and family therapy in Huntington Beach, California, and throughout California via telehealth. I specialize in helping people heal from trauma, anxiety, relationship challenges, grief, and the lasting impact of difficult life experiences using evidence-based approaches including EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and somatic, person-centered therapy. My practice is grounded in the belief that healing happens through a safe, collaborative relationship where you don't have to have everything figured out before you begin. Together, we'll work to understand the protective patterns that have helped you survive, reconnect with your inner strengths, and create meaningful, lasting change at a pace that feels right for you.

First session

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin building a foundation of safety and trust. We'll spend time talking about what brings you to therapy, what you've been experiencing, and what you're hoping will be different. I'll also ask about your personal history, relationships, strengths, and any past therapy experiences so I can better understand the bigger picture. There is no pressure to share everything right away. I believe therapy moves at the pace of your nervous system, not a checklist. My goal is for you to leave the first session feeling heard, understood, and with a clearer sense of how we'll work together. If it feels like a good fit, we'll collaborate on goals and create a treatment plan tailored to your needs, whether that includes EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), somatic work, or other approaches that support your healing.

Strengths

In addition to my clinical training, I bring lived experience that has shaped the way I show up as a therapist. Like many of my clients, I know what it feels like to navigate grief, trauma, and life's unexpected challenges. Those experiences deepened my appreciation for the courage it takes to ask for help and reinforced my belief that healing is possible. My lived experience allows me to approach therapy with empathy, authenticity, and genuine respect for each person's unique journey. While your story will always remain the focus of our work together, I understand that healing isn't about "getting over" what happened—it's about developing a different relationship with yourself, your emotions, and the protective patterns that helped you survive. I combine that perspective with specialized training in EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and somatic therapy to help clients move beyond simply managing symptoms toward deeper, lasting healing. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe enough to explore your experiences, reconnect with your strengths, and discover that the parts of you carrying pain also hold the capacity for resilience, growth, and self-compassion.

Ideal clients

My ideal clients are individuals who are ready to better understand themselves, even if they're not sure where to begin. Many have spent years feeling anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck in patterns they can't fully explain. They may have experienced trauma, difficult relationships, grief, chronic stress, or childhood experiences that continue to influence how they see themselves and connect with others. Many of the people I work with are insightful and high-functioning—they've done a lot of thinking about their struggles and may have benefited from traditional talk therapy, but they sense there's something deeper that still needs healing. They're looking for more than coping skills alone; they want to understand the root of their patterns, develop greater self-compassion, and feel more connected to themselves and the people they love. Whether you're navigating trauma, anxiety, relationship challenges, life transitions, or simply feel like you're surviving instead of truly living, therapy can be a place to slow down, listen to what your mind and body have been trying to communicate, and begin creating lasting change. My goal is to help you move from self-criticism and protection toward greater confidence, authenticity, and a deeper sense of peace.

Treatment methods

Eclectic

My approach is grounded in person-centered, humanistic, and insight-oriented therapy, which means I believe healing begins in a safe, collaborative relationship where you feel genuinely seen, understood, and accepted. Together, we'll explore not only what's happening in your life today, but also the deeper experiences and patterns that have shaped how you relate to yourself and others. I integrate EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and somatic therapy to help clients move beyond simply talking about their experiences. EMDR helps the brain process and resolve traumatic or distressing memories so they no longer feel as emotionally overwhelming. IFS helps us understand and work compassionately with the different "parts" of ourselves—such as the inner critic, people-pleaser, perfectionist, or protector—recognizing that these parts developed to help us survive. Somatic therapy brings awareness to the body's role in healing by helping regulate the nervous system and process emotions that may be stored physically. Rather than focusing on symptom management alone, I work collaboratively with clients to understand the root causes of distress, increase self-awareness and self-compassion, and create lasting change. My goal is to help you feel more connected to yourself, your emotions, and your relationships so you can move through life with greater resilience, authenticity, and peace.
