About me

I bring 17 years of experience and believe firmly that nothing shifts in the therapeutic space unless clients feel seen and connected to their clinician. I am warm and direct, personable and challenging. I move through my life with curiosity and wonder at the natural world and the power of relationships. I love swimming in fresh water, non-fiction books, spending time with my teenagers and hanging out in my gardens. I specialize in sexual and gender identity and look forward to building relationships with people that are motivated to move forward, begin healing and expanding their world.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During first sessions I joke that I am asking the questions but I am the one being interviewed! Clients need to feel a sense of connection if therapy is going to be effective and I never assume that I will be the best fit for everyone I meet with. I am most interested in getting a snapshot of what is bringing client into therapy, any treatment experiences they may have had in the past and what they hope to gain from their time with me moving forward.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I have a warm and personable approach to therapy. I can be direct and challenging when I trust the client feels safe enough to make real changes. I am comfortable with silence and strive to always meet clients where they are. I believe in the power of humor and vulnerability, in creative solutions and slow and steady growth. I bring 17 years of experience and believe firmly that nothing shifts in the therapeutic space unless clients feel seen and connected to their clinician.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I enjoy working with clients who are curious about themselves and others. I look forward to sessions with clients who are interested in creative approaches to therapy. I enjoy working with clients who are experiencing life transitions such as family changes and employment. I do not believe that healing is linear and encourage clients to form new relationships to loss and trauma.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is the equation that thoughts lead to feelings which lead to action. It is an effective mental and emotional exercise that challenges thoughts that can negatively impact our quality of life. For example: if I think my friends do not want to hang out with me then I could feel sad and lonely. If I feel sad and lonely I am less likely to respond to or initiate communication with friends. The flip side? I know my friends want to hang out with me which makes me feel good and loved! Therefore I respond to and initiate communication and hanging out.

Gender-affirming therapy

You tell me how you identify and I will meet you there. You tell me any challenges and/or joy your gender identity brings you and I will meet you there.

Couples Counseling

Working with couples brings a specific set of challenges that I look forward to working within! I enjoy helping people identify conflicts and how to proactively improve dynamics. I understand the strain of raising children, working, keeping up a home etc can bring and take a personable and realistic approach to the work. I am kink and polyamorous positive.

Strength-Based

Let's explore what is and what could be working in an effort to improve the quality of your life! Let's identify together how you can make changes when you become aware that life needs to shift. I want highlight where and how you thrive so that your light can shine even brighter.

Relational

The entire foundation of my work is relational. Without an emotional connection nothing in your life can move or shift. If you do not feel we are developing rapport I am always happy to assist in connecting you with someone else.
