I am most adept at working with anxiety, OCD, and trauma by providing a supportive holding environment and utilizing a client-centered approach to selecting appropriate interventions. I have worked successfully in a number of clinical settings and a variety of populations and presentations by always putting the client and the client's perspective before my own. I look forward to collaborating through your healing process!
There are certain administrative items I have to cover in the initial session but I make sure to give space for the client to be able to process what brought them into treatment. I recognize that making the decision to engage in therapy is difficult enough, and there are so many hurdles and barriers for many clients in actually getting to the clinical work that I try to minimize that as much as possible in session.
I feel that I am good at establishing rapport and providing a calming environment in which we can work together to untangle difficult situations and emotions and arrive at a place of greater understanding and enhanced wellbeing.
I am trained in ACT and incorporate a values-based approach to healing in order to help client exist alongside their difficulties while striving toward their best selves. I am trained as a social worker so I believe in incorporating a perspective that includes the social causes of mental illness, not one that blames the individual for their difficulty.
