What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

My first session with my patients is a crucial step in building a strong and trusting therapeutic relationship. During this initial appointment, you can expect that I will take the time to get to know you, learn about your unique background and concerns, and gather important information about your medical history and current symptoms. I will ask some questions and engage in active listening to better understand your needs and goals. You may feel nervous or uncertain about what to expect, but rest assured that I will provide a welcoming and supportive environment. My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

As a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, I have extensive experience with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as a treatment method for various mental health conditions. In my practice, I have used CBT to treat a wide range of mental health conditions, including anxiety disorders, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Through CBT, I work with my patients to identify negative thought patterns and behaviors that are contributing to their mental health symptoms. Together, we set goals and develop strategies to address these thoughts and behaviors positively and productively.

Grief Therapy

As a PMHNP who uses grief therapy as a modality, I have seen firsthand the positive impact it can have on individuals who are experiencing grief and loss. Throughout my years of practice, I have worked with many patients who have suffered significant losses, such as the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, or the loss of a job. Grief therapy can be an effective way to help my patients process their emotions and move forward healthily.

Motivational Interviewing

My experience with Motivational Interviewing has been extremely positive. I have seen firsthand how it can empower patients to take control of their lives and make positive changes. The technique involves creating a supportive and non-judgmental environment that encourages patients to explore their own thoughts, feelings, and motivations. This approach helps patients identify their own reasons for change and provides them with the tools and resources they need to achieve their goals.

Multicultural

I can confidently say that my experience with multicultural treatment methods has allowed me to better understand and empathize with the unique experiences and perspectives of my patients. By taking the time to learn about their cultural backgrounds, beliefs, and values, I am able to provide care that is tailored to their individual needs and preferences. This approach has helped me to establish trust with my patients and build strong therapeutic relationships.

Strength-Based

In my practice, I make a concerted effort to actively listen to my patients and identify their unique strengths and abilities. I work collaboratively with them to develop individualized treatment plans that build upon these strengths and incorporate evidence-based interventions that align with their values and goals. This approach has proven to be highly effective in improving patient outcomes and promoting long-term treatment success.
