Hello and welcome to Julie Blythe, Therapy. I am glad you are here. In order to know whether I am a good fit for you, let me tell you about myself and my understanding of what it means to be your therapist. In my past lives, I have been an OB/Gyne/NICU and Pediatric R.N. My specialty working as an OB R.N. was working with families whose babies did not survive. Having a baby is a joyful thing until it goes wrong. That is where I came in. I worked with these families in the hospital and ran a monthly SHARE group and a Pregnancy After Loss group. I left nursing and went to Eden Theological Seminary where I graduated with my Master’s in Divinity. I worked as an ordained Presbyterian pastor and chaplain for 15 years. As a chaplain, my specialty was working with families who lost their children. I also have my Pastoral Care Specialist certification. I realized that counseling was truly my passion. So, I went back to school! I received my Master’s in Social Work and have been working as a therapist for the last five years. I am also a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional - II. In my practice I see adults and children aged 10 and up. I am willing to consider seeing younger children on a case by case basis. I also do couple’s therapy. I am happy to include your spirituality in your therapy, but you will be the one who brings that up. There are some clients who may be nervous about the fact that I am an ordained minister. I want to assure you that you take the lead on any discussions about religion/spirituality. I hope that you will consider me for your mental health needs!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In your first session, you can expect that we will begin to get to know each other. The intake process involves me asking you a lot of questions. If, at any time during this process, you become triggered or very uncomfortable, I want you to let me know immediately so we can stop and deal with those feelings. If, after the first appointment with me, you feel like it is going to be a good fit for you, we will make follow-up appointments. Those appointments will be weekly or every other week, based on need and financial considerations that you may have.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

If you choose to see me as a therapist, you will find that I am a warm, caring person. I will tailor your therapy to your condition and life situation. My specialty is working with clients who have trauma. I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional II. I am also a Registered Nurse and an Ordained Presbyterian Minister. While I am never the one to bring up a client's spirituality, I am very comfortable working with those clients for whom that is an important part of their life. I have worked with many people who have had sexual trauma and domestic violence. I have worked with foster kids with trauma and women who have been sex trafficked.
