LCPC, 14 years of experience
New to Grow
I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) with over 14 years of experience in the field. I earned my Master's Degree in Clinical Community Mental Health from Western Illinois University, and have provided therapy in substance abuse, community mental health and correctional settings. Additionally, I have supervised Masters and Doctorate level therapists for over 9 years, and am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP).
My goal for our time together is to partner with you, understand your personal experience, help you set your own goals and work as a team to get you there.
Having worked for many years with people from all walks of life, one thing they always know when working with me is that our therapeutic relationship will be free of judgement, built on trust, and a safe space to be open about the struggle in order to collaboratively work toward the life you want.
I thrive on working collaboratively with those trying to navigate this hectic world in which we live-Where the pressures of being it all, doing it all, and doing it all to everyone else's standards is overwhelming and quite frankly exhausting! I provide a client-centered, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approach to anxiety, depression, substance abuse, life transitions, grief and loss, family/relational difficulties, trauma, and more. Despite hopelessness, self-doubt, or even trauma-you can overcome. I would love to stand beside you on that journey. --
The connection between one's thoughts and beliefs about themselves, others, and the world is so powerful. Through CBT methods we will work to identify these thoughts and beliefs: where they came from, and how they manifest in your day to day life through the choices you make and the behaviors you engage in. We will determine what of those you may want to change or shift, whether to reduce anxiety, regain hope, maintain healthier relationships with others or develop a better understand and acceptance of yourself.
By taking the step forward and seeking therapy/counseling, you've identified that there's something in your life you may want to see change or shift a bit. But as we all know, change isn't easy. It can feel overwhelming, scary, or even impossible at times. Through motivational interviewing we will work collaboratively to assess your motivation and readiness for change, identify what might be standing in your way, and set goals to get you where you want to be.
Trauma from early childhood experiences as well as trauma into adulthood can have significant impacts on work, leisure, relationships, self-esteem, and so much more. As a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional I will work with you at your pace and your comfort level to examine the ways in which these experiences might be impacting you today, and develop skills to promote meaningful healing.
