New to Grow
I am a clinician that has close to 20 years in the field post graduate culminating up 30 years helping people in various capacities. I value the social work principle of client's right to self determination and meeting the client where they are while focusing on their strengths and helping them shift and grow as they heal from old wounds, manage and solve current stressors and problems, and move forward with confidence with new adaptive skills and transformed perspective.
In our first session, time would be spent on building the beginning of a trusting relationship while treatment planning and goals would be addressed after reviewing intake information. Psycho education about symptoms, treatment interventions, and prognosis would be addressed as well so that the client has a clear understanding of my approach and the outline for the direction in which I would guide the client therapeutically.
I have had success with clients I have served over the years because of my transparency, use of humor, and the ability to help clients find their inner strengths and ability to solve and shift through the use of interventions based on years of high quality training, education, and supervision all of which continue and will always occur as long as I practice. My clients get the best of my clinical self and the best of my knowledge and expertise.
The best match for my therapeutic style are clients who are motivated and committed to enter safe therapeutic space to reflect on their past as it impacts their present with the need for resolution through re processing and internal belief shifts. Also, for clients who in the moment are struggling with a life change often around becoming a parent, entering a committed relationship , or expecting turmoil due to an expected loss or ending. Past loss and endings are also issues focused on in my work as the concept of letting go after examination leading to shifts in perspective.
EMDR
Using the principles of EMDR, I support clients to recognize and re process unhealed past trauma which causes them to be stuck in the past, allowing for a shift in past, present, and future functioning free from disturbance and marked by peaceful resolve.
Attachment-based
Attachment based work allows for the client to resolve and re work insecure attachment patterns that negatively impact their interpersonal relationships. Growth in this area manifests in a resolution of underlying anxiety and insecurity in relationships while deepening a secure belief in self.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
This treatment approach is ideal for addressing the habitual and pervasive negative distorted beliefs about oneself and their impact on the world. Relief comes from reframing challenging negative thoughts and replacing them with positive but realistic and true statements.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
Dbt is useful with working with clients who have yet to master affect regulation skills . This treatment model is helpful with learning to handle emotional distress and renders positive solutions for problems in client’s lives that can be controlled and acceptance when they cannot be controlled.
Eclectic
Many of the treatment methods I use come from development across life span combined with trauma recovery and attachment focused psychotherapy
