Welcome to our practice! I am pleased to offer my services and look forward to working with you to address your concerns. My qualifications include: Professor of Psychiatric Nursing (Graduate/Undergraduate Programs) with 10 years of experience; 8 years as a Practicing/Prescribing Psychiatric NP; 4 years of Police Crisis Management, providing mental health training to front-line officers; 8 years of Healthcare Management in hospitals, including a Master's in Business Administration (MBA); experience providing criteria therapy sessions for individuals who have suffered personal injuries during legal proceedings; 10 years as a Family NP in Emergency Services (County Hospital/Jail Systems) and Family Practice, specializing in Major Psychiatric Disorders in mental hospitals and outpatient services; and years of experience providing full-service medication management for ADHD, Bipolar Disorder, Autism, Insomnia, Schizophrenia and Psychotic Disorders, and Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), and Generalized Anxiety Disorder.
Our first session will be spent discussing what you want to accomplish in your personal journey at this time. Please know that not all clients require medications. We can discuss this in great detail. With my years of teaching and training future graduate students, as well as my clients, I have gained a wealth of knowledge. My approach is teaching you WHY YOU FEEL what you feel. Let's talk!
How do I know we succeeded with your care? Once you get a better understanding of your condition and understand that there is nothing in this world that is NORMAL, then we are almost there!
I completely understand the apprehension of taking medications. I can also explain these medications to you and ONLY suggest the ones that can improve your life and relieve relentless emotional stress. I prefer clients who require my medication management expertise and advanced education. I am capable of providing basic CBT and supportive therapies, but would like those who primarily require prescriptions. I want to support your therapist, who is providing you with much-needed therapy sessions. For some, the combination of medication and therapy is what is needed for them to live a whole and meaningful life. Thank you! Mike.
