LCSW, 10 years of experience
I am a psychotherapist with over 10 years of experience working with adults who struggle with very challenging emotional experiences. They may feel stuck, overwhelmed, out-of-control, anxious, angry, unhappy, depressed, alone, defective, or broken. This may translate into engaging in behaviors that both soothe them and hurt them, whether these involve food, alcohol, drugs, self-harm, unhealthy relationships, or even being over-busy or perfectionist. If any of this resonates with you, I would love to offer you my attention, presence and guiding skills to help you explore and make sense of your inner experiences while learning to access more calmness, clarity, confidence, compassion and connection with yourself. I believe that you have the ability to not only feel and cope better, but to thrive. When working with clients, I operate with a person-centered, solution focused, cognitive behavioral approach. The foundation of our work is based on identifying what you want for yourself in your life and then helping you to shift problematic thinking patterns or strategies that are creating roadblocks to your success. I also offer EMDR for those clients seeking some deeper transformation and healing from some of the more stubborn/negative effects of trauma or problematic memories. That being said, I am continuously learning and growing to better serve my clients.
By providing a space of warmth and safety, I strive to make my clients feel comfortable enough to be themselves, while also challenging them to develop the confidence and strength to make decisions that are aligned with their values and best life.
Trained in CBT, EMDR, Gottman method, and motivational interviewing.
People tell me I am different than other therapists they have had, as I have a refreshing approach that makes them hopeful and excited for the future. I provide feedback to my clients rather than “just listening” or giving advice, I make them feel at-ease even when they are talking about things they have never told someone else before, and I teach them how to move forward in their life rather than dwelling on the past.
