As a Black, gay man, I am deeply passionate about supporting and empowering individuals within marginalized communities. I strive to create a safe and inclusive space for those navigating their journey toward healing and personal growth. With a decade of experience in the mental health field, I have worked extensively with the LGBTQIA+ community, bringing a deep understanding of the unique challenges and triumphs within it.
In the first session, we’ll focus on building a strong therapeutic relationship. I’ll take the time to learn about your experiences, challenges, and goals while creating a safe, nonjudgmental space for you to share. Together, we’ll explore your mental health, and I’ll provide an initial assessment of the challenges you’re facing. I’ll also offer thoughtful reflections to help you better understand your situation. This session is about understanding your unique story and setting the foundation for our work together in a way that feels supportive and collaborative.
My ability to appreciate the unique nature of each individual’s experiences. I am dedicated to creating a safe, supportive space where clients feel heard and understood. I strive to build a therapeutic relationship that is both professional and relatable, fostering trust and collaboration throughout the healing process.
My work focuses on supporting individuals who have faced mental health challenges, particularly those who have felt stigmatized or misunderstood. I help clients process traumatic experiences, manage anxiety and depression, navigate life transitions and stressors, regulate their mood, and address feelings of unexplained sadness. I am committed to providing compassionate, culturally sensitive care that recognizes and respects each person’s unique journey, fostering a sense of understanding and empowerment in their healing process.
I have used DBT to assist clients in developing skills to regulate their emotions and cope with challenging feelings in a healthy and constructive way.
I have used CBT to help clients develop skills to challenge negative thought patterns and view situations from different perspectives. This approach supports them in regulating their emotions and responding to difficult situations in healthier, more constructive ways.
I have utilized EMDR to help clients process trauma and work through feelings of being "stuck," particularly with anxiety and depression. By guiding them through this evidence-based approach, I support clients in resolving past experiences that continue to impact their present emotions and behaviors, fostering healing and a sense of forward movement.
I have used Solution-Focused Therapy to help clients identify their strengths, focus on their goals, and create actionable steps toward positive change. This approach empowers clients to move forward by building on their existing resources and envisioning solutions, even when facing challenges such as anxiety or depression.
