About me

Hello! I’m Jasmine Gillison, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in Virginia. I firmly believe that nobody exists in a vacuum. Even though life can feel incredibly isolating at times, you truly do not have to walk this path alone. When frustration, stress, and disconnection leave you feeling at your wit's end, it is completely normal to have more questions than answers. Like you, I am human. I understand firsthand the struggles that arise when "life starts to life." While I believe everyone is genuinely doing their best with the tools they have, I also honor and foster your deeply rooted desire for healthy change. My mission is to walk alongside you as you navigate personal traumas, life transitions, mental health challenges, and substance use disorders. Using a diverse array of evidence-based approaches, I am here to help you tap into your purpose, build self-efficacy, and provide a genuinely safe space for you to heal.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Therapy is a collaborative journey built on trust, creativity, and courage. Together, we will uncover the root causes of your challenges, learn to manage deep emotions, and build practical coping skills to handle stress and prevent crises—so you can truly enjoy life again. Our first session is a dedicated space for you to share your story, goals, and expectations. We keep this initial meeting relaxed and free-flowing to ensure we can naturally build a comfortable and trusting therapeutic relationship from day one.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Therapy can be a challenging and humbling experience, but it is also deeply rewarding and transformative. No matter what brought you here—whether you are navigating your own actions or responding to life's unpredictable challenges—you retain the power to change your narrative. Together, we can find beauty and meaning within the struggle. In our sessions, I warmly welcome honest feedback and focus on the present moment to foster deep insight and long-term growth. As a clinician with over 20 years of experience across diverse settings, I bring compassion, honesty, a touch of humor, and a deep commitment to culturally competent care. If you think we would be a good fit, I would love to connect and hear your story.

My treatment methods

EMDR

An EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) session is unlike traditional talk therapy, as it relies on bilateral stimulation (BLS)—such as side-to-side eye movements, hand tapping, or auditory tones—to stimulate the brain to reprocess traumatic memories. Sessions can be completed virtually and sessions generally last 60 minutes.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) skills in session are a structured, collaborative process to help clients identify, test, and modify unhelpful patterns in their thoughts and behaviors.

Grief Therapy

Utilization of evidence-based interventions in session to help client identify unhelpful thought patterns and reduce avoidance behaviors linked to loss.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

DBT equips people with practical, life-changing skills grouped into four skill sets: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. In sessions, therapist will provide psychoeducation to build copings skills to apply in session and/or personal life.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness practices are integrated into clinical sessions, to offer your body a chance to reset its stress response and help you reconnect gently with the current moment.
