Welcome! I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the state of Florida. I attended Florida International University (FIU) and I have been providing therapeutic services to individuals of all ages for over 7 years in many different settings. I strive to create a safe and non-judgmental environment to be able to help and support individuals process and overcome their trauma, depression, anxiety, among other life challenges.
In our first session together, we will begin to introduce ourselves and what brings you to therapy. I will focus on trying to get to know each other and help you make this environment safe and trusting. I will answer any questions or doubts you may have about me and will explore what goals you have for therapy and our time together.
I feel some of my greatest strengths include my ability to be able to empathize, actively listen, validate and challenge individuals during sessions. I truly work my best to be able to understand individual's experiences, in order for them to feel comfortable and develop trust with me. I recognize the importance of active listening during sessions sp individuals to feel they are being heard and understood while they express themselves. As a provider, i use validating and challenging in my sessions to help individuals feel understood and heard, yet empower them to explore other points of views in hopes of personal growth and understanding of others.
I enjoy working with individuals who have experienced trauma and feel they are ready to tackle those difficulties that may be impeding them from living their lives to the fullest. I enjoy working with all ages, from children, through adulthood, understanding the different challenges each age group brings, and meeting the individual where they are both mentally and emotionally. I also enjoy working with individuals who are dealing with depression and anxiety in order to empower them to feel in control of their lives and their happiness.
I help clients understand how maladaptive thoughts and behaviors that could be affecting their lives in a negative way. My goal is to be able to empower clients to use CBT techniques to turn maladaptive patterns into positive and helpful ones
I am nationally certified in TF-CBT. I use the TF-CBT model to be able to support children and teens to process and overcome trauma events that have impacted their lives.
I use many skills and techniques from different therapy models, such as CBT, TF-CBT, DBT, Solution Focused, Attachment Based, Multicultural, Person-Centered, Narrative, Positive Psychology and EMDR in my sessions. I believe that not just one model is helpful for everyone, and everyone may not respond to all aspects of every model, therefore being Eclectic, gives me the ability to be able to meet my clients where they are.
