I value your own personality, strengths, vulnerabilities, dreams, and goals as unique, important, and worth exploring. As your therapist, I engage in trauma-informed, humanistic care focused on processing trauma, coping tools, and identity/self-esteem. I’m trained in and have experience working with depression, grief, anxiety, trauma, substance use, perfectionism and rebuilding/repairing sense of self through challenging seasons of life. I typically blend Trauma-Informed Care, Internal Family Systems, Emotionally-Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Mindfulness together for a holistic, person-centered approach.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

I like to take things slowly, fully recognizing that it’s impossible to get comfortable in this process with a complete stranger. I like to ask questions about your day-to-day life, current resources/supports, comfort rewatch show, and life goals. Get comfy and feel free to bring your favorite coffee or tea to our first session.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I bring my authentic self to the session- I’m curious, compassionate, and able to find the joy or humor even within the darkness. I truly create a non-judgemental space for you to name your worst fear, vent about your situationship, process family trauma, or engage in a new hobby after a depression cloud has lifted.

My treatment methods

Trauma Informed Care

I have experience and care with working in trauma-informed and trauma-responsive settings by centering the client’s experience, utilizing unconditional positive regard, and creating a safe container through consistency, honesty, and reliability. I utilize a mixture of relational support, psychoeducation on typical trauma responses and experiences, as well as exploring community, spiritual, and tangible support to process trauma.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I hold the dialectic of embracing both change and acceptance within self, behaviors, thoughts, and feelings. I assist clients with naming, observing, and processing problematic dynamics and explore use of interpersonal effectiveness, mindfulness, emotional regulation, and distress tolerance skills to live a life worth living.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

I work with clients to explore, track, and process/reprocess relational dynamics, with focus on attachment, to create more safe, authentic, and loving relationships. I completed EFIT training with individuals. I focus on attunement and create a safe, relationally-focused container for the client.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

I have completed IFS training and utilize the modality as a way to name, observe, and create relationship within parts of the client. I believe we all contain multitudes and focus on the inner dialogue, relationship, and feelings that are experienced within.

Grief Therapy

I have experience and care working with grief therapy, specifically running a grief support group for over 2 years. I provide psycho education on the typical experiences of grief, as well as focusing on healing rituals and practices within loss.

Kyra has been so easy to talk to and her welcoming energy is beyond words. The level of comfort that I immediately feel with Kyra is unmatched. Not only does she listen and validate, but her ability to see underlying layers and help make sense of what you bring to session is the best part of working with her. Her calm demeanor and caring personality will unexpectedly bring you peace.
