I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master in Social Work degree from Columbia University and an undergraduate degree in psychology. Over the past decade, I’ve worked with individuals and families across diverse psychiatric and medical settings. My approach is rooted in compassion and tailored care. I support clients facing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, chronic illness, life transitions, and severe mental health challenges. I draw from CBT, DBT, and Motivational Interviewing, always practicing with unconditional positive regard to foster self-worth, insight, and growth. I’m passionate about mental health advocacy and committed to reducing stigma around emotional wellness.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, you can expect a warm, welcoming space where we begin getting to know each other. I take time to understand your current concerns and emotional needs, while also exploring aspects of your past that may be influencing your present experiences. This initial conversation helps lay the foundation for a strong therapeutic relationship built on trust, empathy, and collaboration. Importantly, the first session is also an opportunity for us to determine mutual fit, ensuring that my approach aligns with your needs and that you feel comfortable moving forward. My goal is to create a safe environment where you feel heard, supported, and empowered as we begin your journey toward healing and growth.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

What sets me apart as a therapist is the deeply collaborative and compassionate nature of my approach. Clients often describe me as warm, supportive, and gentle - qualities that help create a safe space for meaningful exploration and healing. I view each person as the expert in their own life and lived experience, and I honor that by practicing with humility, curiosity, and unconditional positive regard.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work with adult men and women, as well as young adults and college-aged individuals, who are navigating life transitions, grief and loss, depression, anxiety, and the emotional impact of chronic health conditions. My ideal clients are those seeking a supportive, nonjudgmental space to process their experiences and build resilience. Whether you're adjusting to a new phase of life, coping with illness, or managing emotional distress, I offer compassionate care tailored to your unique journey.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I incorporate a range of evidence-based approaches in my therapy practice, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), relational therapy, and strengths-based techniques. My work is grounded in unconditional positive regard, creating a safe and supportive space where clients feel seen, heard, and empowered. By integrating these modalities, I help individuals explore their thoughts, emotions, and relationships while building on their inherent strengths to foster meaningful growth and healing.

Grief Therapy

Grief therapy is an integral part of my therapeutic approach, supporting clients as they navigate the emotional complexities of loss—whether it's the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, or a major life transition. I provide a compassionate and nonjudgmental space where individuals can process their grief at their own pace. Using grief therapy as a modality, I help clients explore the impact of their loss, honor their unique experiences, and gradually integrate healing into their lives. This work often includes elements of narrative therapy, mindfulness, and meaning-making, tailored to each person’s needs and cultural context.

Supportive

Supportive therapy is a foundational element of my practice, providing clients with a safe, empathetic, and affirming space to explore their thoughts and emotions. I use this modality to help individuals feel validated and understood, while reinforcing their strengths and resilience. Through active listening, encouragement, and unconditional positive regard, I foster a therapeutic relationship that promotes emotional stability, self-esteem, and coping skills. Supportive therapy often complements other approaches I use (such as CBT, relational therapy, and grief work) by helping clients feel grounded and empowered throughout their healing journey.

Sam made me feel for comfortable. She was/is so easy to talk to. She listens and validates your feelings, she has questions about what you need and how she can help you achieve those goals. I feel very happy to have found sam to work through my feelings and such. Thank you for today!
