Judith Kelly
Hello, I’m Judith Flore T. Kelly, APRN, MSN, PMHNP-BC, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner based in Lexington, Kentucky. I provide compassionate, evidence-based care to individuals across the lifespan through secure telehealth services.
What Stands Out About My Approach Holistic & Integrative Care: I treat the whole person — not just symptoms — by exploring how mind, body, and environment interact.
My approach combines empathy, collaboration, and practical strategies to help you gain clarity, stability, and confidence in your mental wellness journey. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where you can feel heard, understood, and empowered to heal.
First session
From your very first session, you can expect a calm, supportive, and judgment-free space designed entirely around you. My goal is to help you feel safe, heard, and understood — because meaningful healing begins with genuine connection. Our work together will always be collaborative. You’re the expert on your own life; my role is to guide, support, and empower you with the clinical tools and insight you need to reach your goals. We’ll take a holistic approach — exploring the connection between your thoughts, emotions, habits, environment, and physical health — so that your treatment plan reflects the whole person, not just a diagnosis. - Compassionate listening — a space to share openly without fear of judgment. - Collaborative goal-setting — we’ll identify your priorities and define what progress looks like for you. - Evidence-based medication management, when appropriate, paired with education about your options and side effects. - Therapeutic support. - Action-oriented care — each session ends with realistic steps you can take between visits to continue growing and healing. - Convenient, secure telehealth sessions — accessible from the comfort of your home, while maintaining full privacy and professionalism.
Strengths
As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, my greatest strengths lie in combining clinical expertise with deep empathy and genuine human connection. I strive to make every session a balance between science and compassion, helping clients feel both understood and empowered. What Stands Out About My Approach Holistic & Integrative Care: I treat the whole person — not just symptoms — by exploring how mind, body, and environment interact. My sessions often integrate evidence-based methods like Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and mindfulness-based strategies with personalized medication management. Empathic Listening & Collaboration: I create a safe, judgment-free space where clients feel heard and respected. Rather than prescribing solutions, I partner with you to uncover what works best for your unique situation and pace of change. Education & Empowerment: I believe knowledge reduces fear. I take time to explain diagnoses, treatment options, and medication effects so that you feel confident and informed about your care decisions. Cultural Sensitivity & Inclusivity: My approach is rooted in respect for individual differences — including culture, identity, spirituality, and lived experience. Everyone deserves care that honors their story. Measurable, Meaningful Progress: I value progress that feels both practical and sustainable. Whether it’s fewer anxious days, better sleep, or renewed motivation, I work with you to celebrate every step forward.
Ideal clients
I specialize in helping individuals who are ready to reclaim balance, peace, and purpose in their lives — even if they’re not sure where to start. I work best with clients who want compassionate, evidence-based support that blends clinical expertise with genuine human connection. I’m particularly well-suited to support: Adults and adolescents navigating anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD, or mood disorders Individuals experiencing burnout, compassion fatigue, or emotional exhaustion from caregiving, work, or life transitions Clients who feel “stuck” or ambivalent about change — those who want to feel better but aren’t sure how to begin People coping with trauma, grief, or loss who need a gentle, structured space to process and rebuild Professionals and students struggling with focus, stress, or imposter syndrome Those seeking medication management with a holistic touch — integrating therapy, mindfulness, and lifestyle guidance Clients who value collaboration, honesty, and education in their treatment process My ideal clients are curious about understanding themselves more deeply and open to working together to create change at their own pace. I meet each person where they are — without judgment — and help them move toward where they want to be. Whether your goal is to reduce anxiety, improve mood, regain focus, strengthen resilience, or simply feel like yourself again, I will walk alongside you with empathy, clarity, and respect for your journey.
Treatment methods
Motivational Interviewing
To me, it is a goal-oriented style of communication designed to strengthen a person’s motivation and commitment to change by eliciting their own reasons for change. In the core spirit of MI, I utilize: Collaboration – Partnership rather than authority. Acceptance – Respecting the autonomy and worth of the client. Evocation – Drawing out, not imposing, motivation. Compassion – Prioritizing the client’s well-being.
Trauma-Informed Care
Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) Goal: Ensure safety, trust, and empowerment for clients with trauma histories. Why it fits: MI’s empathy and non-judgment align with TIC’s core principles. Acknowledge triggers: “What helps you feel safe when talking about difficult memories?”
Strength-Based
The goal of this in my practice is to build on resilience, gratitude, and personal strengths. Why it works: MI already highlights autonomy and hope; strengths-based work cements self-efficacy.
