Welcome! My name is Angelica Quick. I hold a master’s degree in counseling and I am a National Board Certified Counselor. I am also a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor (LPC-S) in the state of Texas. I have more than 25 years of experience as a mental health professional. This includes direct counseling as well as case management and service coordination for individuals with mental illness and individuals with intellectual developmental disabilities. I have aided in accessing medical, social, and educational services that help individuals and families achieve a better quality of life. I have extensive experience in effective counseling, crisis prevention and management, assessment, and diagnostic and therapeutic activities. I enjoy working with individuals, couples, and families. I integrate an eclectic approach by focusing on the emotional, physical, mental, and social wellbeing of each client. I provide therapy for marital and relationship problems, family dysfunction, issues with adolescents, and grief recovery. I have worked with clients diagnosed as bipolar and schizophrenic and people working to overcome drug and alcohol addiction. Upon request, I can serve clients who desire a faith-based approach as well. My goal as a counselor is not to change you. Change is your choice. My goal is to build awareness, compassion, understanding, respect, empathy, and acceptance toward self and others and to develop one’s full potential and ability to cope.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our first session we will engage in a conversation to understand your reasons for seeking therapy, desired outcomes, and what you hope to achieve during the therapeutic process. We will establish a comfortable and safe environment where you feel heard and respected and work toward your goals.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have developed the skill of active listening. Active listening enables an individual to more clearly discern the speaker's concerns and needs. It creates an atmosphere of trust and openness. I've also developed the capacity to be empathetic. Understanding and sharing in the feelings of one's client facilitates trust.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have used cognitive behavioral therapy to help clients identify and change thought patterns that have a negative influence on their emotions, behavior, and outcomes. Together, we will identify your patterns of maladaptive thinking. I will help you learn to modify your negative thoughts, emotions, and behaviors and equip you to replace them with more desirable ones. We will identify strategies and exercises you can employ to make progress toward your goals.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

By using DBT therapy, the clients will learn four core skills mindfulness, acceptance, distress tolerance, emotional regulation and interpersonal effectiveness to help manage with difficult feelings and make positive changes.
