Hello, my name is Daniel Leal. I am an LPC and have been in the mental health field for about 6 years. My specialty and love is working with adult & adolescent clients who are struggling with depression. However, I love also working with all individuals to help them create opportunities to change their lives. I have gained a lot of experience working with a range of mental health challenges, including highly acute clients with significant diagnoses such as Bipolar and Schizophrenia. I am comfortable working in many settings and would describe myself as inclusive and strength-based. The main theories I utilize are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational interviewing, and Solution Focused. I consider myself an active listener and like to come alongside all clients as they decide to make positive changes in their lives. I am supportive, and find joy in helping people identify their goals, and make them a reality.
Warm Welcome: The therapist creates a safe and welcoming environment, introducing themselves and explaining their role. Overview of Therapy: The therapist explains what therapy involves, the approaches they use, and what the client can expect.Identifying Goals: Together, the client and therapist discuss what the client hopes to achieve in therapy (e.g., reducing anxiety, improving relationships, building self-esteem).
I work very well with people who feel hopeless and helpless due to stress, anxiety, and depression. I also work very naturally with others in the LGBTQ community.
I love working with individuals who have become hopeless and helpless over time and need help getting out of the rut of depression.
Daniel Leal offers therapy covered by Parkland Community Health Plan - Medicaid and UnitedHealthcare/Optum - Medicaid in Texas.
Understanding Thought Patterns: The counselor educates the client about cognitive distortions (e.g., catastrophizing, black-and-white thinking) and how these distortions impact their emotions and actions.
