I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in Texas. I received my Master's Degree in Counseling from Amberton University and have been practicing for over 20 years. Therapeutic focus involves helping my clients identify their current struggles, obstacles & any negative thinking/behavior patterns that are keeping them stuck. The goal is to help them develop better coping strategies, which leads to decreasing their anxiety level, increased ability to better manage their stressors and improve their overall mental health. I have experience in the specialized field of dealing with First Responders and their family members. I have also obtained my 2023-2024 TCI Trauma-Informed Care Training Program Certification. & EMDR Training in Jan 2026.
The first session we will explore any current stressors/problem areas/obstacles, as well as past history to get a clear picture of who the client is and areas that we can develop counseling goals to address in a therapeutic setting. The client is the one driving the boat when it comes to the things that they want to work on, but I will also make recommendations and help with problem solving from a therapeutic perspective. Everyone has their own unique needs, so my goal is to meet each client where they are at. My therapeutic interventions include CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), Reality Based, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, Compassion, Psychoeducational approaches, as well as providing empathy without judgement in a safe/trusting environment.
Being a "Recovering Workaholic, Over-Achiever, Perfectionist & People Pleaser" I have Expansive Knowledge & Experience from working in Management in Corporate America to be able to help my clients navigate all the workplace stressors related to job burnout, unhealthy boundaries, HR issues, lack of work/life balance, struggling with difficult supervisor/coworkers and/or toxic work environment. Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT: This approach helps me teach my clients to identify & challenge any unhealthy thinking/behavior patterns, so they will be able to successfully take better control of their internal dialogue & let go of any unhealthy thinking or behaviors that are keeping them stuck.
Integrative
Integrative: This individualized approach allows me to combine/use any therapeutic tools/strategies that would be beneficial to each specific client.
Psychoeducation
This helps me be able to teach my clients about different things that could benefit them related to coping skills, stress mgmt., boundaries, depression, anxiety, worry, conflict, communication skills, mood management, etc.
Reality Therapy
Sometimes accepting things can be hard, but reality therapy can use tools to assist with challenging assumptions, identifying negative self-talk /cognitive distortions or looking at more rational expectations.
Strength-Based
Understanding someone's strengths can be a good tool in therapy, since we can work with those strengths toward recovery.
