Hey - I'm Emily! I know that for most people, starting therapy is the hardest part of your journey to feeling better in your day to day life. That's why I make it my mission to make you feel comfortable, heard, and understood from Day One in our sessions. I am an experienced Licensed Professional Counselor with over 7 years of experience working with adults, teenagers, and families.
In our first session, we'll review some of the current issues that brought you to seek therapy in the first place. Typically, we will discuss some of your family/interpersonal history, current mental health stressors, and collaboratively create treatment goals that target meaningful areas in your life.
One of the most important keys to therapeutic success is the relationship between the client and their therapist - a good fit and trusting relationship can make a huge impact on how much progress a client can make over the course of therapy. I strive to meet client "where they're at" and make therapy relatable, enjoyable, and meaningful to them. I use humor and compassion to make our sessions a genuinely positive space, ensuring that you feel like session was a meaningful hour of your week towards your growth journey.
I work best with adults, parents, and older adolescents, especially in a telehealth setting. Clients may not know where to begin in their therapeutic journey, or don't have the tools to start making the changes they want to see. Parents too can feel stuck in a "rut" without seeing positive changes in their family system - that's where I come in to help support clients find new strategies to approach their lives.

Cognitive behavioral therapy is one of my preferred modalities to utilize with clients for treatment of anxiety and other mood disorders.
I believe psychoeducation is important to use in every session so you understand the "how" and "why" behind our therapeutic progress
