LCSW, 10 years of experience
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Connecticut. I received my Master's degree from California State University, Los Angeles (CSULA), and have close to 11 years of experience working with clients ranging from children to older adults. I provide support, compassion, and practical skills to help my clients overcome the obstacles preventing them from reaching their goals.
In our first session, we will have brief introductions, explore your concerns and presenting issues, review relevant personal history, and discuss expectations and goals.
Having worked with various clients ranging from children to older adults, I provide a comfortable, warm environment to build trust and rapport with each individual. I utilize evidence-based approaches to treatment that provide tangible and practical skills.
My clients are those who have been feeling stuck, overwhelmed, and uncertain about how to move forward. They know they need to make changes but need support, encouragement, and guidance in taking those steps. They are ready to make their mental health a priority and commit to learning and developing the skills needed to overcome obstacles and achieve their goals.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based treatment that has been proven to be effective for a variety of mental health issues including anxiety and depression. Using principles of CBT, I help clients learn how to identify, challenge, and reframe unhelpful thoughtful patterns that are negatively impacting their mental health.
Using principles from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), I teach clients to cope with strong, negative emotions by focusing the areas of mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness.

Kristen's bio brought me here. She is warm, approachable and there is not a hint of criticism in her eyes, no matter what incoherent, messy thing I might say. Kristen has a quiet intelligent humor, she seems to know just when to use. She challenges me to think about things inside the hour, and sets goals and tasks to challenge me outside the hour. For me, this is key to recognize my blind-spots, and grow out of behaviours I am stuck in. She is warm - yet direct and I am making good progress.
