I am a LCSW in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Arizona, and received my MSW degree from the University of Pennsylvania, School of Social Work in 1994. I work collaboratively with my clients, meeting them where they are, to reveal and dismantle the mechanisms that inhibit healthy and meaningful relationships with others - and most importantly, within themselves. I use an integrative approach combining interpersonal, cognitive, behavioral, and family systems to address clients' issues. I work from a non-judgmental, strengths-based approach; assisting and supporting clients to be their best selves. During the therapy process, I assist clients in discovering their strengths, building a support system, and developing a healthy lifestyle to set the foundation for life success-- moving clients from Surviving to Thriving.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we will begin with background information and getting to know each other. Next we will dive into the specific issues and challenges you are facing. This will help me create a plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My clients describe me as calming. I use a warm and welcoming space to help create a trusting therapeutic relationship and challenge destructive thought processes and behaviors without judgement. I am able to facilitate positive change in my clients along with assisting and supporting them to be the author of their own lives. Additionally, I am committed to honoring diversity related to ethnicity, religion, racial identity, sexual orientation, gender identity and physical abilities.

My treatment methods

Prolonged Exposure Therapy

Have you experienced serious trauma and/or suffering from PTSD and want an evidenced-based treatment for your trauma? People with PTSD often try to avoid anything that reminds them of the trauma-- which can help you feel better in the moment, but not in the long term. Avoiding these feelings and situations actually keeps you from recovering from PTSD. PE works by helping you face your fears. By talking about the details of the trauma and by confronting safe situations that you have been avoiding, you can decrease your PTSD symptoms and regain more control of your life.

Trauma Informed Care

I am deeply committed and intentional in the work that I do with my clients. Their experiences are important to me, and I am thankful that they have shared a piece of their lives with me. My focus is to understand your whole life experiences with empathy and free of judgment. We will work together in a collaborative manner to find solutions and coping strategies to reduce symptoms, and meet your goals by identifing and using your strengths to help facilitate awareness and change. This discovery of your strengths will help to develop a healthy lifestyle, which will set the foundation for life success.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I’ve been using CBT in my practice for years. It’s helped clients challenge reoccurring thoughts and manage their anxiety. We’ll use CBT to recognize how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are all connected and influence each other. We’ll then use that knowledge to change your thinking patterns, which will help you lead a less anxious and more fulfilling life.

Psychodynamic

This treatment method recognizes the value of exploring past experiences of your childhood and early life experiences and how it has shaped who you are and how you presently interact with others. By examining your past, you will gain insight into your unconscious behaviors and a deeper understanding of yourself to facilitate growth today and lasting change.
