D. Elaine Miller is a Texas-licensed professional counselor (LPC). She holds MA in Professional Counseling, MS in Deaf Education as well as an MDiv. She's worked with clients experiencing trauma, grief/loss, relationship issues, and sexual abuse, as well as domestic violence survivors. Her approach to counseling is eclectic, as no two clients are the same. I am a firm believer that when there is ownership in the solution, it is more likely to be utilized by the client.
In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. Letting them know the power to heal is within them and as longer as they are willing to work to achieve their goals, I will work with them. The honesty of the client, about the issues, will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.
My greatest strengths are being a neutral party, being authentic with the client, listening and providing my skills, talents and training to help the client find their own healing.
No two clients are the same. I used Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT), Bibliotherapy, and any other methods which may benefit the client, which is within my scope of practice.
