I am a licensed psychotherapist with a variety of clinical experiences. I have experience in helping clients with LGBTQIA + related issues, relationship issues, substance abuse, family conflicts, & motivation, self-esteem and confidence, traumas from physical and sexual abuse, personality disorders, depression, and anxiety. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, which are the tenets of each therapeutic relationship I build with my clients. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique needs. Embarking on the journey to a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage, I am here to support you in that process.
Clients should expect to feel seen and heard throughout our therapeutic time together. I strive to ensure that clients are supported in reaching their goals by providing the appropriate skills and tools. This is a safe, nonjudgmental space where we can decrease the volume from the outside world and truly focus on mental wellness and healing.
I have a versatile therapeutic approach; I feel it is essential to tailor client treatment methods and interventions to the presenting need. With that said, I often utilize EMI, SFBT, CBT, DBT, and ACT. Additionally, I use various tools depending on the method selected and client receptivity. Regardless of the approach, I ensure that treatment is client-centered and client driven.
My most significant strength is my ability to empathize and reframe. With genuine empathy and the ability to reframe a situation or highlight exceptions, allowing for a shift in perspective and glimpses of hope where it was not previously felt, nothing else matters, not treatment modality or tools utilized. I believe that without these skills, clients are often stuck in the “fog” of their presenting problem (whether the fog consists of shame, fear of judgment, fear of a lack of understanding, or feelings of hopelessness). Until the “fog” is lifted, a process that begins with empathy, reframing, and seeking exceptions, I believe that both initial progress and long-term cognitive or behavioral change will be very challenging.
I am particularly focused on minority men and women, and teenagers
