Hi, I’m Maritza! I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Texas and the owner of Rooted & Renewed Counseling PLLC. I’ve worked in the mental health field for over 10 years and have experience serving a variety of populations including crisis response, Christian counseling, parenting, marriage and couples, undocumented minors, domestic violence, and in-patient psychiatric facilities. Fun fact: Rooted & Renewed Counseling is an assignment; I was minding my business working my regular full time gig & God decided to call me back to Christian counseling—this time focused specifically on serving women. Talk about a plot twist! I’m grateful for the opportunity to blend clinical interventions and biblical truth, because it’s 1000% okay to love Jesus and have a therapist. P.S. if you have questions about your faith—or you’re feeling angry at, disappointed with, or disconnected from God—you’re welcome here too! My approach to counseling is holistic and authentic. Show me the screenshots. Tell me the things you’ve never said out loud. Bring all the thoughts, worries, and struggles that take up space in your mind and heart. I’ll meet you with compassion, humor, clinical expertise, biblical truth, and gentle challenges along the way. I help women who are experiencing: Life Transitions * Young adulthood * Career changes * Marriage * Pregnancy and motherhood * Caring for aging parents Relationship & Family Concerns * Marriage/Premarital * Divorce and separation * Parenting challenges * Family boundaries * People-pleasing Emotional & Mental Health * Anxiety * Depression * Stress * Grief * Low self-worth * Emotional regulation Work & Achievement-Related Concerns * Work-life balance * Career stress * Burnout Faith & Personal Growth * Finding purpose * Boundaries * Resting * Growing in Faith It would be an honor to walk alongside you in this season of your life. Let’s do this!
First session will consist of orienting the client to the counseling process, building rapport, and reviewing the intake paperwork.
My treatment modalities include: Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Choice Theory, Gottman Therapy (couples/marriage issues), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused Therapy, Bibliotherapy, Christian Counseling (if requested) and several others techniques/approaches. Honestly, I don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" modality when it comes to working with people. The tools and techniques that I use will be eclectic; I will pull from different methods depending on the issues we are facing and also go based off of what my client feels is helpful to them.
You can expect for me to show up for you with authenticity, compassion, and a healthy dose of humor. Growth happens when we feel safe enough to be vulnerable and supported enough to be challenged. As a Christian Therapist, my style is a balance of grace and truth--I offer empathy while also helping clients recognize patterns, take ownership, and move toward the healing and renewal that God desires for them.
I work best with women who will show up for themselves and trust the process. Clients who desire an integration of the Christian faith and evidenced based clinical interventions are a great fit for me; I am hopeful that my clients have the mindset that change is possible and are ready to see what a God-&-Therapy combo can do for them.
