About me

My name is Marlo. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I am also a Certified School Psychologist. I have worked in the mental health field for over 22 years, and I have been providing individual therapy for 4. In a world where kindness is not always common, a nonjudgemental listening ear and a safe space to unpack whats been weighing you down can be invaluable. Allow me to walk with you on your journey towards healing, growth and wellness.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session expect me to listen to your concerns, discuss possible treatment plan/options, and to review the information you provided at intake.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I believe what makes me unique is my authentic approach. In sessions, aside from offering a listening ear, I offer authentic self. I also provide various tools, strategies and educational materials that clients can refer to long after our sessions have ended.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I typically work with adults (18 and up) challenged with anxiety, depression, grief, family issues, and PTSD. I specialize in providing guidance, empathic listening, education and tools to assist others on their journey through healing. I believe that clients have the power to heal themselves with guidance, empathy, and a safe place to unravel their thoughts, concerns, most intimate secrets and feelings.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Together, we identify patterns of thinking and behaviors that may be contributing to emotional distress or interfering with clients goals. By examining these patterns, we work to develop more balanced perspectives and healthier coping strategies.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

With Mindfulness-Based Therapy, I help clients change their relationship with their thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations in order to increase awareness, reduce automatic reactions and to support a more intentional response pattern. In my work, I help clients cultivate present moment awareness with curiosity and without harsh self judgement.

Compassion Focused

I utilize Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) to help clients develop a kinder, more understanding relationship with themselves, particularly when they struggle with self-criticism, guilt, shame, anxiety, or feelings of inadequacy. Clients learn to recognize patterns of self-criticism and develop more balanced compassionate ways of responding to themselves during times of difficulty.

She really made me feel comfortable. I didn't know what to expect going in, didn't know if I was willing to open up at the first session. She has so much insight on what depression really is. I felt good leaving the session.

Really loved my first session, got a lot of my chest, and was able to be open and be transparent with some feedback and well-thought-out goals.
