Life does not always go according to plan and it sure can be messy sometimes. It is nice when you can be expressive and heard as you share your messiness. My name is Trish, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and I am here to support you and encourage you through the 'messy'. I have been in the field for over 25 years guiding, supporting, and cheering on clients, couples, and families as they make way for change. My background is serving pediatrics to geriatrics. I have a passion for working with healthcare workers, Veterans of all ages, as well as first responders, and active military. As a mother of 5 children, I have both professional and personal knowledge of child development, family systems, and the complexity of family dynamics. I have an extensive background in grief work. Keeping in mind, grief is not just a death loss but any significant change in life that was unexpected, unplanned or did not go according to plans. My interactive, supportive style of therapy is built into creating a plan of care with solution-focused goals in a short-term treatment therapy formula to assist in making changes and improvements. Life gets messy that is for sure. However, when we have the necessary tools and support during those times, we are better equipped to embrace the big events and things don't feel or look as messy.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

This first visit is an opportunity to get to know one another and build rapport. It is important for you to be comfortable with your therapist. As therapists, we all have different clinical styles. I want you to feel comfortable with me and ensure I can meet your therapy needs. We will set goals and start a road map for your improved future.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have become certified in intimate partner violence. This area of interest has become near and dear to me (both people using IPV and experiencing IPV). I truly am passionate about grief work. Helping others through difficult times in life and being present. In addition, having raised five children after a tragic ending to a marriage, I come to you with an ability to support single parenthood and the complexities of raising children on your own. I work daily with Veterans and have extensive knowledge of PTSD, discharging from service, and the unique needs of Veterans. Overall, the feedback I have received is I am a good listener and clients feel comfortable sharing with me. I hold space that is supportive, compassionate and empathetic to the client. I have been a social worker for more than thirty years (yikes!). I love being a Social Worker and I believe that shows in my work.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I like to work with clients on goal directed treatment plans that support the client's desire for change. CBT is a great method of treatment to foster change.

Grief Therapy

With most of my career spent in hospice, I have learned so much about grief work. I utilize the principles of grief in many areas of life including relationships ending, changes in careers, moves, empty nesting, etc.

Couples Counseling

I believe in being an conduit for better communication for couples. I have a unique style of helping couples engage in better communication. Teaching partnership and teamwork, along with assertive conversation vs. aggressive or passive.

Trauma Informed Care

I follow the five guiding principles for Trauma Informed Care (safety, trustworthiness, choice, collaboration, empowerment).

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing is a great change agent in practice. Together we can determine your motivation of change and work together on you being the leader of your outcomes. It is very empowering as a client to realize how much control you actually have in your own successful outcomes!!
