My name is Emily and I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of North Carolina! I received my Masters in Social Work in 2021 from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. Since then, I have served children and families from a variety of backgrounds. I enjoy helping people of all ages manage symptoms of anxiety and depression, as well as working with those who have experienced trauma.
In the first session, I hope to gain as much insight as possible into who you are and what brings us to this point. I hope to get to know you in a professional, yet welcoming and relaxing manner so that you feel comfortable being open and honest about the goals you’d like to achieve in our time working together.
Over the past four years, I have worked with children and adults facing a variety of mental health challenges. I am thoroughly trained in treating children with trauma as well as providing support for their caregivers. I also have notable experience treating anxiety, depression, and working with people through stressful life events. Though I come into each session with the client's individual goals in mind, I also strive to cultivate a warm, welcoming, and relaxing environment in which clients feel comfortable and relaxed as we work towards these goals.
I enjoy working with children, teens, and adults to help them build the skills needed to manage strong emotions, anxiety, depression, and symptoms of trauma. My clients may have recently experienced a stressful event that led them to seek therapeutic support, or may want help gaining insight surrounding their emotions, habits, thoughts, and behaviors. Additionally, parents may be seeking support to manage challenging behaviors observed in their children.
Using skills rooted in CBT, I can help you gain a more thorough understanding of the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and actions. Additionally, this modality encourages the recognition, challenging, and reframing of automatic negative thoughts. I have many years of experience implementing CBT in my practice and find it to be helpful for many clients.
I am rostered as a TF-CBT provider by the Child Treatment Program in the state of North Carolina. I have used this modality to help children and caregivers navigate the complexities of traumatic events, both acute and chronic.
This treatment model is one that often works for clients that try to rationalize everything and struggle to find benefit in thought challenging or reframing. By using ACT, I can help you identify your values and learn skills to help guide you through strong emotions and towards your goals.
