LMFT, 8 years of experience
My name is Myesha Richardson and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) based in California working with clients statewide via telehealth. I work with adolescents and specialize in anxiety, depression, stress, and anger management using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Client-Centered Therapy to help my clients make progress and feel better. I decided to become a therapist because I have always wanted to help people. Whether it was peer support at school, volunteering in my community, or being a trusted family member and loyal friend. I have always been naturally drawn to helping people through difficult times. I enjoy seeing individuals become the best versions of themselves.
What you can expect from our first session together is for us to spend the majority of our time talking about how you have been feeling recently and me asking questions to better understand why you may be feeling that way. The first session is about building an initial connection and helping me get a sense of where we should go from there. Each individual is different and I like to listen first before assuming I know what will work best for you moving forward.
My greatest strengths as a provider is I am empathetic, compassionate, supportive, approachable, resourceful, and caring. My communication style is calm, accommodating, and personable with a little fun! I want my clients to feel comfortable talking with me about anything, and I pride myself on my ability to listen without judgment.
I have found that my style and approach are a good fit for teens and young adults who may be dealing with challenges of life, pressure, school and social concerns, peer relationship issues, life transitions, and adjustments. This often shows up as depression, anxiety, and stress. I work to help my clients talk to me about anything and I pride myself in listening without judgment and creating a safe environment.
Myesha Richardson offers therapy covered by CalViva Health (Medi-Cal), Community Health Plan of Imperial Valley (Medi-Cal) and Health Net (Medi-Cal) in California.
My approach to therapy varies based on the needs of each client I work with, I most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral therapy and Client-Centered Therapy as both modalities help me and the client build a relationship and share understanding of their current needs.
