I am a board-certified mental health nurse practitioner. I partner with my patients to build a treatment plan that matches your individual needs. In my practice, there will be no gaslighting or judgement - one small fact that most of my patients enjoy is that I will flat out ask everybody "What do you think is going on? Did you have a diagnosis or treatment options in mind?". These questions provide a lot of insight as they may bring forward points that we may have otherwise not discussed, while making sure that I hear your concerns directly. We will explore as much or as little as you are willing to speak about, and agree on a treatment plan together. I also enjoy getting to know my clients personally. I am a firm believer that therapy can only help you if it is with a provider that actually cares and will devote the time and focus you deserve.
Our first session will be a lot of talking- I will collect a lot of information about your medical and family history before we discuss any mental health concerns. I will ask direct questions, such as any legal history and substance use. I understand these questions make people uncomfortable, but please remember that I only ask as it may impact the medications I can safely prescribe. Nothing you disclose is provided to anybody without your permission and signed consent. I will ask you specifically what your worst symptoms are, and I will do both a broad questionnaire, as a focused assessment for your main problem area. We will discuss medications if you are comfortable taking them, and discuss which side effects are most important for you to avoid before making any decisions. You may or may not leave with a prescription depending on your needs. I have many screenings and tests we can do if we are honing in on a specific diagnosis. All patients will have a working diagnosis - though as we get to know each other, the diagnosis may change.
I listen to my patients and respect your decisions, as ultimately you are the most important person in your own treatment. I will not push medications on you, but I will gladly sit with you and cover any and all treatment options. I will take the time to educate you and show you reputable sources of information if you wish to do some searching on your own.
I treat children, adolescents, and adults with either medications, therapy, or a combination of the two. Clients that want to be a part of their own healthcare are best served by me. I do accept all ranges of clients- if you are a person who feels introverted or on the passive side, I will connect with you and educate you on any and all are decisions I recommend, and your voice will be heard. You won't have to be your own advocate in my hands- This is a role I will personally make myself responsible.
I teach DBT skills for any patients who can benefit from emotional regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal skills, and mindfulness. Just about everybody benefits from utilizing these skills!
Using CBT techniques, I help my clients focus on changing their negative automatic thoughts and take steps in changing their behavior. CBT is also great for those with anxiety and sleep disturbances.
I trained under a double-board certified child and adolescent psychiatrist, and am an experienced child and adolescent nurse. I can help build parenting skills and strategies, as well as build a behavioral toolbox that is suited to your individual needs at home.
I am trained in dyadic family therapy and will help you create a healthy bond between parent and child. As a foster parent myself, I've used many PCIT skills personally and bring my own experience to the table.
As a member of the LGBTQ community, I understand the importance of identity. I will help guide you through interpersonal struggles and help you feel more comfortable in your own skin in a completely judgement free environment. We can discuss local LGBTQ community involvement opportunities and get you connected with a stronger support system.
