I am a board-certified mental health nurse practitioner. I partner with my patients to build a treatment plan that matches your individual needs. In my practice, there will be no gaslighting or judgement - one small fact that most of my patients enjoy is that I will flat out ask everybody "What do you think is going on? Did you have a diagnosis or treatment options in mind?". These questions provide a lot of insight as they may bring forward points that we may have otherwise not discussed, while making sure that I hear your concerns directly. We will explore as much or as little as you are willing to speak about, and agree on a treatment plan together. I also enjoy getting to know my clients personally. I am a firm believer that therapy can only help you if it is with a provider that actually cares and will devote the time and focus you deserve.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Our first session will be a lot of talking- I will collect a lot of information about your medical and family history before we discuss any mental health concerns. I will ask direct questions, such as any legal history and substance use. I understand these questions make people uncomfortable, but please remember that I only ask as it may impact the medications I can safely prescribe. Nothing you disclose is provided to anybody without your permission and signed consent. I will ask you specifically what your worst symptoms are, and I will do both a broad questionnaire, as a focused assessment for your main problem area. We will discuss medications if you are comfortable taking them, and discuss which side effects are most important for you to avoid before making any decisions. You may or may not leave with a prescription depending on your needs. I have many screenings and tests we can do if we are honing in on a specific diagnosis. All patients will have a working diagnosis - though as we get to know each other, the diagnosis may change.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I listen to my patients and respect your decisions, as ultimately you are the most important person in your own treatment. I will not push medications on you, but I will gladly sit with you and cover any and all treatment options. I will take the time to educate you and show you reputable sources of information if you wish to do some searching on your own.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I treat children, adolescents, and adults with either medications, therapy, or a combination of the two. Clients that want to be a part of their own healthcare are best served by me. I do accept all ranges of clients- if you are a person who feels introverted or on the passive side, I will connect with you and educate you on any and all are decisions I recommend, and your voice will be heard. You won't have to be your own advocate in my hands- This is a role I will personally make myself responsible.

As a member of the LGBTQ community, I understand the importance of identity. Matt is wonderful. I did not feel judged. I did not feel like I had to justify my symptoms. He asked questions, listened to my response, and was understanding and reassuring. He was very helpful and knowledgeable. He did not push medications. I left the appointment feeling heard and on the right track to managing my symptoms.

Matt is the BEST. By far the most personable psychiatrist I’ve ever had in 10+ years of medication management and he is a great listener. He wants what is best for his patients and is so warm and kind. I’d recommend him to anyone!!

I read through multiple provider profiles before selecting Matt. I am so glad I did the homework because just with one session he feels like a perfect fit. He listened to what my concerns were and provided a structured plan. He gave me plenty of room to express my thoughts , questions , and concerns on each topic, and provided all the information that was necessary without feeling like I couldn’t keep up. I appreciated his time and knowledge and look forward to continuing care.
