Marie Garon

PMHNP (she/her)10 years of experience

I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with more than 15 years of nursing experience. I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, mood disorders, grief and loss, life transitions, insomnia, relationship concerns, and other mental health challenges. I also have extensive experience caring for older adults and individuals experiencing cognitive changes and dementia. My approach is warm, compassionate, collaborative, and individualized. I believe mental health care begins with truly listening and understanding the whole person—not simply treating a diagnosis or a list of symptoms. Together, we will develop a treatment plan that reflects your individual needs, concerns, goals, and preferences.

First session

Our first session is an opportunity for me to get to know you and understand what has brought you to treatment. We will talk about your current concerns, symptoms, medical and psychiatric history, medications, relationships, life experiences, and the things that are most important to you. I want you to feel comfortable asking questions and sharing concerns openly. We will discuss treatment options together, including medication when appropriate, and develop a plan that feels realistic and meaningful to you. You should leave your first appointment feeling heard, understood, and clear about our next steps.

Strengths

I bring warmth, empathy, curiosity, and extensive clinical experience to my sessions. I take time to listen and look beyond symptoms to understand how physical health, relationships, environment, stressors, loss, and life experiences may be affecting a person's mental health. I value honesty and open communication and believe the best treatment decisions are made collaboratively. My goal is to create a space where clients feel safe being themselves, asking questions, and participating actively in their care. I combine evidence-based treatment with a practical, compassionate approach tailored to each individual.

Ideal clients

My ideal client is an adult who is looking for a collaborative and supportive approach to mental health care. They may be experiencing anxiety, depression, grief and loss, life transitions, caregiver stress, insomnia, or mood-related concerns and want a provider who will take the time to understand them as a whole person. I especially enjoy working with adults navigating changes in relationships, health, family roles, aging, or other significant life experiences. My ideal client values open communication and wants to be an active participant in developing a treatment plan that fits their individual needs and goals.

Treatment methods

Supportive

I use supportive therapy to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard, understood, and supported. Through active listening, validation, encouragement, and collaborative problem-solving, I help clients explore current stressors, identify strengths, develop effective coping strategies, and build confidence in their ability to navigate challenges. I tailor my approach to each client's individual needs and goals while supporting resilience, emotional well-being, and meaningful change.
