Hi! My name is Kylie & I am a Licensed Therapist. It takes courage to seek out help and support, congrats on taking that first step. I have experience with clients from all walks of life- children, teenagers, adults, and the geriatric population. I have worked as a Therapist in Medical and Psychiatric Hospitals, Schools, and Non-Profits. I love this career and knew I wanted to be a Therapist since I was 12 years old. I view my practice as a team effort with my Clients; I like to think of myself as walking alongside them as they are experiencing the wonderful, the hard, and the confusing parts of life. I cater my Therapy to my Client and will mold, and shape our dialogue and treatment plan to cater to their unique needs. Sometimes change can look like sprints and leaps and sometimes it is just waking up in the morning and brushing your teeth. No change is too small.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In the first session, we will build some rapport and get to know more about each other. I will want to know some of your history, and find out the reasons why you are seeking therapy. This session will help us create your roadmap for treatment, and make sure we are a good fit. After this session, we will then schedule our next Therapy session the following week (or every other week).

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am authentic, and assertive in a warm way. I am honest, and I'm not afraid to challenge my client's thinking errors or cognitive distortions. I hold my clients accountable. It might sound silly, but I really care about my clients- their wins are my wins and I believe that can be felt and seen in my sessions. I really try to go out of the box to connect with my clients in sessions; this might look like looking into their favorite TV show they like to talk about or listening to an artist they connect with. I also like to use humor when appropriate- I've been told by clients I'm really funny but I'll let you be the judge of that!

My treatment methods

Eclectic

I do not believe that therapy is a one-size-fits-all all approach. I truly meet my clients where they are at. Depending on the client, in the beginning of treatment we can be using CBT/DBT and then five months later they might be better suited and connect better with ACT, and art therapy. My approach and treatment method evolves alongside my client in order to best serve them.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I use ACT when clients are more rigid or have issues with flexibility. I use alongside DBT as it also has a great mindfulness aspect and plays into the Radical Acceptance of DBT idealogy. ACT also has great visuals that I like to utilize in sessions and go over with clients.

Attachment-based

I utilize attachment models to help clients better understand their relationships. I also provide psychoeducation on this.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I start therapy with CBT- providing psychoeducation if my clients don't have an awareness of the thought triangle.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I use Radical Acceptance in almost all my sessions- mindfulness and grounding as well.
