You may be a parent seeking support for your child or teen to help heal places such as trauma, anxiety, or self-harm. Let me begin by saying, I recognize the immense strength it takes to begin this journey. You’ve come to the right place. Due to my own life experiences I have a passion for working with children to help them navigate difficult times and transitions. I am a true believer in using strengths we gain from overcoming our own obstacles to serve as a guide for others. Together, we will utilize art, play, and conversation to elicit positive change. I enjoy using fun and colorful activities to teach coping skills, harm reduction, and mindfulness. I’ve also developed my own curriculum to help families learn important skills to tackle sensitive subjects and promote healthy emotional development. I hope to meet you soon, as we embark on this journey together.
In our first session, you can expect a relaxed environment where we will begin to build rapport and discuss your goals for therapy. This will allow us to create a plan specifically for you that will guide future sessions.
I pride myself on my ability to build rapport through a lens of understanding and acceptance. It is important to me that my clients feel heard and able to freely express themselves. I also believe in a healthy dose of humor and laughter when the moment calls for it.
I have over ten years of experience providing therapy for children and teens and hold certifications for Trauma Focused Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and am formally trained in EMDR Play Therapy.
As a trained Trauma Informed Therapist I work with children and teens to process, manage, and heal from trauma. I utilize EMDR techniques, mindfulness, and an emphasis on client strengths to address trauma related behavioral patterns, such as self-harm.
When working with childhood anxiety disorders I place a strong emphasis on cognition to teach thinking errors and to help children restructure thoughts that lead to anxious feelings, phobias, and compulsions. I have even written my own curriculum to help make CBT age appropriate, fun, and engaging for my clients.
I firmly believe that strengths are the key to resilience. I incorporate the strength's-based model into every session as a means to elicit hope and the belief that each child is their own agent for change.
