Welcome! I’m Erin, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in North Carolina (she/her/hers). With 8 years of experience in social work with the last 2 years in outpatient therapy. I earned my Master’s degree from the University of NC-Greensboro and NC A&T Joint Program. I’m also trained in Brainspotting, a trauma-focused therapy that aims to aid the processing of difficult emotions and unresolved traumatic experiences. I’m truly passionate about Brainspotting with clients and I’m here to support you on your path toward healing and growth.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The first session is all about getting to know each other. I’ll ask questions to learn about your background, what brought you to therapy, and gain a holistic understanding of your situation. We’ll also discuss your goals for therapy and start brainstorming how we can work together to achieve them. Don’t worry if you don’t have everything figured out yet—this session is simply the starting point to help guide the work ahead

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I bring a wealth of experience from a diverse background in settings like DSS, domestic violence shelters, crisis response teams, community mental health, facility-based crisis and detox, inpatient mental health, and outpatient therapy. This variety has equipped me with a broad skillset to tailor my approach to your unique needs and goals. Whether you're navigating a crisis or working on long-term growth, my versatility allows me to meet you where you are and provide the support you need to make meaningful progress in therapy.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy aids clients challenge reoccurring thoughts and manage their anxiety. This modality also can assist for identifying triggers and emotions associated with intrusive thoughts and behaviors. We’ll use CBT to recognize how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence each other. Once we have gained that foundational knowledge, we can use it to "flex" your thinking patterns, which will help you lead a less anxious and stressed life.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing is not only used to gain more insight into the topics in which you have already presented into the therapy room for that session but also identify any ambivalence you are currently experiencing. Once identified, I will work with you to aid in feeling empowered to make wanted changes in your life.

Brainspotting

Brainspotting is a brain-based therapy based on the idea that specific eye positions activate and access specific area of the midbrain that allow for the reprocessing and releasing of core neurophysiological reactions to trauma-related and other psychological experiences. In addition, an essential element of this experience is the space that is held for you as the client.
