Feeling stressed? Anxious? Depressed? Are you struggling to regulate your moods on your own? Hello, I'm Nellie Finn. I have extensive training in both Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy. I view my role as your mental health coach, who is here to share tools, feedback and support that will help you build your resilience, deal with challenges and manage your reactions to daily stressors. Yes, stress is part of everyday life but learning healthy coping strategies will help you feel empowered and ready to take on whatever life throws at you. Utilizing a Solution Focused approach, together we will have a goal-oriented focus to problem-solving. This approach will move you away from feeling helpless to feeling hopeful and inspired. Solution Focused goals are set up incrementally, so you build on your success. Regardless of how small the success, it is worth celebrating each step of the way, at each session meeting. I have many years of successful counseling experience supporting a diverse population of individuals from ages 18 thru 84. I enjoy working with individuals from all backgrounds. I understand the challenges many of us are facing with trying to balance personal needs, cultural challenges, developmental stages, relationships, partners, family, single life, married life, financial stress, career-building (career set-backs & toxic work cultures), high demand careers (law, nursing, education...) parenting, fertility issues, and modern dating. With unwavering optimistic positive support, I am here to help you feel listened to, supported and appreciated. For me, it is an honor to support you on your journey to feel better.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Clients will have a clear understanding of what to expect from future therapy sessions. Clients will feel in control of the process as they will decide on what their goal(s) for therapy treatment are and how long they want spend in treatment to achieve their goals. Clients can decide if 3 months, 6 months, 9 months or 12 months of treatment is what they need to improve their life.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My biggest strengths as a therapist are to help individuals feel welcome at the start of each session, develop trust, respect & recognize & appreciate each unique individual, learn each individual’s struggles & strengths. I have the patience to allow each session to progress as needed - not rush the process of therapeutic growth. The ultimate goal of therapy is for the individual to practice new coping skills in therapy, "graduate from therapy" and confidently apply these new skills independently to lead a productive and satisfying life.

My treatment methods

Strength-Based

Stength-Based Therapy is a collaborative and positive approach focusing on individual internal strengths and resources and use them to overcome challenges and improve well-being. We work on fostering a positive mind-set and enhances one's worldview to be more optomistic. 91% of we worry about never happens. We sometimes spend too much time and energy on concerns that prove to be unfounded. Shifting our perspective to a positive orientaion helps our improve our well-being.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy focuses on challenging negative thought patterns and behaviors. It helps individuals recognize distorted thinking patterns and beliefs replaces them with more realistic and positive ones. CBT is widely regarded as an effective treatment for anxiety and depression for up to 75% of individuals struggling with anxiety and depression.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness-based therapy incorporates practices such as present moment awareness (rather than focus on the past=depression, or focus on the future = anxiety). The use of breathing practices, grounding techniques and mediation can bring relief from anxiety and depression by breaking away from negative thought patterns. Mindfulness is simple yet powerful and can be practiced from the moment we start our day.

Mind-body approach

A Mind-body therapy is a holistic focus that recognizes the mental and physical health are intertwined. Incorporating physical activity into daily routines is 1.5 times more effective than medication for treating anxiety and depression (Medical News Today - Robby Berman, 3/3/23). We can collabore in session and explore various ways to add physical health routines into daily living.
