Are you holding it all together on the outside, but running on empty inside? I have over 20 years of experience walking alongside people navigating stress, anxiety, burnout, and life transitions. My work has woven through community mental health and primary care behavioral health, deepening my belief that healing isn’t just about talking—it’s about reconnecting with your whole self. My approach is holistic and down-to-earth. I blend cognitive tools from REBT and ACT with mindfulness and somatic practices like EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques). You might find yourself gently challenging old thought patterns one moment, and learning to ground through your breath or body the next. Every part of you is welcome in the room. I’m not a blank slate therapist. I show up as a real person—warm, intuitive, and yes, I sometimes curse. I also give homework, like ABCDE journaling, to help you carry the work into your life between sessions. Therapy with me is collaborative and active—we’re not just talking about change; we’re working toward it. Most of all, I want you to feel safe, seen, and supported. Whether you’re overwhelmed, stuck, or simply ready for something to shift, I’m here to walk alongside you—without judgment, and at your pace. Please note: I’m only able to work with clients who are physically located in Virginia at the time of sessions.

I love working with the elderly, couples who suffer from PTSD, depression, anxiety, and schizophrenia. I have experience working with the severely mentally ill for more than thirty years. I'm a psychotherapist with 35-plus years of experience. After completing training in clinical social work and psychology at the University of Maryland (M.S.W., 1988) and Saybrook Institute (Ph.D., 1991), I began practicing as a family, couples and individual therapist. I have hosted on radio/podcasts, have written two books and thousands of self-help articles in my "Life's a Beach" column for nationwide Gannett media. I love working with clients in the here-and-now, and finding solutions to move forward with life. My primary goal is to help you help yourself. I will guide and coach you, not tell you what to do. Diagnostic labels are useful at times, but you are not your labels. I'm your thinking partner: We'll reason and think our way to what makes sense together.

Hi, I'm Taylor. I'm so glad you're here. It’s no small thing making the decision to sign up to talk to a stranger about the overwhelming and very often draining circumstances that you’re in. I want to highlight how much being on this site, and looking through profiles is such a significant step toward your mental health goals. Anxiety and improving self image are at the core of my work. I focus on helping clients develop flexible thinking and self-compassion — practical tools that help you step away from self-criticism and patterns that keep life feeling heavy. The goal of this work isn't about becoming a perfect version of yourself. It's about learning to navigate life's challenges with greater flexibility, confidence, and self-understanding.

Are you a woman facing big decisions? Navigating relationship challenges, family dynamics, parenting difficulties, career pivots? My background shapes how I approach therapy with clients facing such women's issues, which includes years as a licensed mental health counselor, but also as serving in senior leadership within higher education, supporting clients as a transformational coach, and balancing parenting along the way. This mix (and juggling act) gives me a practical understanding of how emotional wellbeing is often shaped by work, caregiving, relationships, and major life responsibilities. Many of the woman I work with are thoughtful, capable, and carrying more than others realize. They often appear highly functional on the outside while privately feeling overwhelmed, depleted, uncertain, or disconnected from themselves. I help clients slow things down enough to understand what is happening beneath the surface, identify what needs attention, and move forward in ways that feel grounded and realistic. I am licensed in Washington, Virginia, and Rhode Island, am a nationally certified counselor, and hold a doctorate in adult and higher education. While my colleagues may call me Dr. T, in counseling I'm just Melanie. I'm here to support you, help you find clarity and calm, offer guidance, levity, and a safe space for tears, perimenopausal rage, or a well placed curse word. Together, we find solutions to the barriers keeping you from your next chapter.

I help high-functioning adults reconnect with themselves and learn to trust their own judgment again. Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, capable adults who have spent years taking care of everyone else while quietly struggling themselves. They often appear successful on the outside but privately feel anxious, emotionally exhausted, overwhelmed, or disconnected from who they used to be. You may be recovering from betrayal, navigating a difficult relationship or divorce, struggling with perfectionism or people-pleasing, healing from trauma, or facing a major life transition. Somewhere along the way, you may have begun second-guessing yourself, losing confidence in your instincts, or wondering why life feels so much harder than it looks from the outside. My approach is warm, practical, and collaborative. Together, we'll make sense of the patterns keeping you stuck, calm your nervous system, reduce shame, strengthen healthy boundaries, and build the confidence to make choices that align with your values instead of fear or self-doubt. Therapy should leave you feeling understood, supported, and equipped with practical tools that make everyday life feel lighter.

Hi, I’m Tiffany, a licensed clinical social worker who provides individual therapy for adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma-related stress, grief, major life transitions, emotional overwhelm, low self-confidence, relationship difficulties, and challenges with boundaries or communication. My goal is to provide a welcoming and nonjudgmental space where you can speak openly, feel understood, and explore the experiences that have shaped how you think, feel, cope, and connect with others. I understand that many people come to therapy after spending years taking care of everyone else, pushing through difficult situations, minimizing their own needs, or trying to hold everything together. You may appear strong and capable to others while privately feeling exhausted, disconnected, anxious, or unsure of what to do next. My approach is supportive, collaborative, and practical. We will make room to process difficult emotions while also identifying patterns, developing coping strategies, strengthening communication, and creating meaningful steps toward change. I believe therapy should provide more than a place to talk—it should help you understand yourself more clearly and use that understanding in your everyday life. Whether you are experiencing a recent challenge or working through patterns that have developed over many years, we will begin where you are and move at a pace that respects your needs. I currently provide individual psychotherapy for adults and am not accepting new couples or family therapy clients.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, proudly continuing a family legacy of service and commitment to helping others. With over a decade of experience, I have worked in a variety of clinical settings, including hospitals, home health, outpatient centers, and most recently within a K–12 school system. Throughout my career, I have considered it a true privilege to support individuals during some of their most vulnerable and transformative moments. I specialize in individual therapy and am now opening my practice to teens. My recent experience as a School Social Worker allowed me to provide direct therapeutic services to students across all grade levels, supporting them through anxiety, depression, academic stress, peer and family challenges, and crisis situations. This chapter feels especially meaningful, as I originally pursued my education with the goal of becoming a School Social Worker. In many ways, this transition represents a full-circle moment in my professional journey. I bring the insight, developmental understanding, and collaborative approach from the school setting into my practice, offering teens and their families compassionate, structured, and informed support.

Hello! I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in the heart of Virginia. I earned my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University in 2020 and have been practicing as a counselor for the past six years. My approach to therapy is grounded in validation, compassion, and hope. I believe that you are the expert on your own life, and that even when things feel overwhelming or uncertain, you have the ability to create meaningful change. My role is to provide a safe, supportive space where you can feel heard, understood, and empowered to move toward the person you want to be. I work primarily with adolescents and young adults navigating challenges such as anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationships, self-esteem, parenting, and the many changes that come with different stages of life. I especially value working with individuals and families who may feel overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of where to begin. Therapy doesn’t have to be about “fixing” who you are. Sometimes, it’s about understanding yourself more deeply, recognizing your strengths, and finding the tools and confidence to move forward. Wherever you are in your journey, I would be honored to walk alongside you.

Glimmer- verb shine faintly with a wavering light. It is my most sincere belief that everyone deserves to live a life they enjoy living. Maybe you love your partner but rarely feel interested in sex. Maybe your desire has changed after motherhood, stress, medication changes, relationship difficulties, trauma, or simply over time. You might find yourself thinking, “I want to want sex—but I just don’t.” I specialize in working with women experiencing low sexual desire, desire differences in relationships, intimacy concerns, sexual shame, and feeling disconnected from their bodies or sexual selves. Sex therapy with me is not about pressuring you to have more sex or meeting someone else’s expectations. Together, we’ll explore the emotional, relational, psychological, biological, and lifestyle factors that may be affecting your desire. We may work on understanding your unique desire patterns, reducing pressure around intimacy, strengthening boundaries and communication, reconnecting with your body, and discovering what intimacy and pleasure actually mean to you. My goal is to provide a comfortable, judgment-free space where you can talk openly about sex, relationships, desire, and intimacy without embarrassment or shame—and develop a sexual life that feels authentic to you.
