I also believe there is room for appropriate humor, during therapy, sometimes being able to smile or laugh together can make the hard work feel a little less overwhelming. What you see in session, the laid back, goofy but can be blunt person is who you'd meet on the street if you saw me in public. Serious when serious is needed.
With more than two decades of experience, I've been privileged to work in a variety of settings including psychiatric hospitals, residential treatment centers, domestic violence shelters, juvenile justice, forensic facilities & child advocacy centers. I am currently licensed in AK, DE, FL, GA, ID, NH, SC, UT and VT. I hold a M.Ed and an Ed.S in counseling and I am also a a Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor (CPCS).
One of the most rewarding aspects of my work was partnering with local law enforcement & district attorneys as an expert witness in trauma & abuse cases, conducting 300+ forensic interviews across metro Atlanta. I served as an Executive Board Member on the State of GA Sexual Offender Registration Review Board for 10+ years & conducted workshops on a range of topics, including relationships, parenting, stress management & child abuse.
