Hello! My name is Clover and I am a licensed clinical therapist and addiction specialist in the state of North Carolina. I look forward to the opportunity of learning and working together as part of our therapeutic process. I enjoy working with folks who are gender diverse and members of the LGBTQIA+ community who experience unique stressors and conflicts with their day-to-day lives. I also love working with folks who struggle with substance use either in addition to other life stressors or on its own especially in the context of substance use disorders being highly stigmatized. I focus on substance use treatment approaches with a functionality mindset to work on setting reasonable goals and expectations during the clinical process. I started my clinical work with addiction and grew as a therapist and person to see people from a whole-person perspective. Our difficulties, conflicts, our stressors do not define us for who we are and when they prevent or delay us from becoming our authentic selves is where the therapeutic process blossoms. I believe everybody is always in a constant process of growing into our best selves and I hope to have the opportunity to work with you along this process too.

For the past eighteen years, I’ve had the privilege of supporting individuals, children, and families across both clinical and K–12 educational settings. My professional journey has included roles as a Professional School Counselor, 504 Coordinator/Learning Specialist, and Clinical Therapist, giving me a unique understanding of how emotional, cognitive, and learning needs intersect. Over time, my view of mental health has expanded. I’ve always been interested in nutrition, movement, sleep, and lifestyle as contributors to emotional wellness. But everything shifted when I began integrating mindfulness, contemplative practices, and a deeper exploration of hormone health—both personally and professionally. Understanding how hormones influence mood, stress, and cognition opened an entirely new dimension of care. I now approach therapy through a whole-person lens that honors the connection between mind, body, hormones, and environment.

Out of my 63 years of life in this planet, 28 of those years have been spent assisting others within a diverse number of areas and environments. Narcissistic Abuse/Antagonistic personality style partner or other person in your life? As part of my work with individuals dealing with divorce, widowhood, and coparenting, I provide care and assistance for individuals directly or indirectly involved in relationship with an individual who displays behaviors which may indicate a narcissistic or antagonistic personality style. Note: It is neither possible or ethical for a provider to diagnose an individual who has not come in for assessment/diagnosis/treatment. However, a provider can work with an individual to learn to cope and navigate difficult relationships with difficult individuals. In addition to individual in partner relationships with such an individual, I also work with family members who are struggling with how to relate, support, and cope with a loved one who appears to be entangled in such a relationship. Complex circumstances need to be considered in deciding whether to remain in the relationship or to consider it's necessary to consider leaving. For folks who have separated or divorced from such a situation, the recovery and aftermath intervention and support is often needed on order to heal, restore, and recover. If children and the courts are involved, there are additional areas to address. I also provide care for adults who are highly intelligent and possibly/likely on the spectrum. Regardless of or whether an adult is diagnosable with autism, being highly intelligent can present with social and emotional challenges. On the side, I enjoy writing, performing, teaching, and recording music, both vocal and guitar. I have been teaching/empowering "non-singers" to sing for over 30 years with a therapeutic program I have developed called "Singing in the Shower."

Meet Mike Arieta, LICSW Hello and welcome. I’m Mike Arieta, a licensed clinical social worker with nearly three decades of experience supporting individuals, couples, families, and teens through life’s most complex challenges. Since 1995, I’ve worked across diverse settings—from foster care and homelessness to adoption and refugee support—and have been practicing clinically since 2011. My therapeutic approach is body-based and trauma-informed. I believe our bodies often speak before our minds can make sense of what we’re feeling. This philosophy guides my work with clients navigating trauma, PTSD, and transitions that require deep emotional resilience. I integrate movement-based and somatic strategies to help clients reconnect with themselves and their communities. Currently, I’m completing my Doctor of Social Work degree at Tulane University, where my research focuses on trauma recovery and evidence-informed practices that foster healing. I also hold advanced training in adoption competence and provide support to foster youth, adoptive families, and caregivers navigating complex systems. Therapy, for me, is a collaborative journey. I’m honored to walk alongside my clients as they reclaim their stories, build strength, and move toward meaningful change. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about my work—I look forward to connecting with you.

Hello, my name is Matthew Cruz, but many people call me Matt. I specialize in treating adult individuals. I enjoy talking with people about their problems, offering them support, and helping them to find a way forward. My background is in treating substance use and Eating Disorders. As such, I am familiar with a variety of treatment approaches, including CBT, DBT, and Motivational Interviewing. However, I am looking for what approach works for each individual and am not attached to any one mode of treatment. I enjoy helping people explore meaning and symbolism in their world through a person centered approach to treatment. For those that are interested, I am comfortable incorporating faith and spiritual practice into the treatment experience. I do not provide couples or family therapy. Hello. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who has been practicing for over 20 years. I work with adults, couples, and families including children, and adolescents. My goal is to work with each person individually from a person-centered perspective. I want you to feel that you are in control of your progress by identifying your needs and focusing on your strengths . My specialties include depression, anxiety, relationship issues, behavioral challenges, post-partum depression, parenting, chronic illness, and grief. I am available to see clients in Kentucky in-person or telehealth, and Michigan or Minnesota via telehealth. The person centered approach means that the client is the center of everything from the initial assessment, to the development of the goals, to the treatment that is provided. It is important that you know you are accepted and with therapy you are able to address the concerns you have and learn to effectively work through them. I understand therapy can feel uncomfortable and the thought of sharing yourself with someone you don't know (yet) can be overwhelming. Give me a call and we can talk for an initial conversation to see if it will be a good fit.

Hello, my name is Angie, and I would be honored to hear your story and experiences. As a social worker, I have a strong ability to connect with people and quickly build rapport. I have been working in the field for 11 years and have been a LICSW since 2021. I believe it's important to engage actively in therapy and put in the necessary effort to make changes that will help you reach your goals. I often use humor and seem to have the ability to make people feel like they are talking to a friend...albeit a friend that is very honest, sometimes sarcastic, can challenge you, accept you, fight for you, and sometimes make you mad. Thankfully, it's all part of the process of making sustainable changes! I attended training to work specifically with law enforcement, veterans, and other first responders. I was an embedded social worker in a MN police department for 3 years. I utilize different therapeutic modalities depending on your individual needs. Some examples include: Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. I pride myself in delivering non-judgmental, empathetic, individualized services to ensure the therapy experience is created for you.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Minnesota rather than a city like Minneapolis?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in Minnesota. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Minnesota from Saint Paul to Rochester! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Minnesota.

Will my therapist take UnitedHealthcare StudentResources?

Yes! If you use UnitedHealthcare StudentResources you’ll be asked to verify your Member ID at the time you book the appointment. However, if you don’t have UnitedHealthcare StudentResources you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on a specific issue?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What happens during the first therapy session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
