Dr. Nesterenko has experience working with veterans. Dr Nesterenko works inpatient, in crisis stabilization unit with children and adults, and outpatient. I work with clients of all ages starting from 5-year-old to 95-year-old. I always begging the session from a listening to the client. We trying to look for a good thing in client’s life such as achievements, success, relationship improvement, stability, support, and strength. After that, we are looking for complaints such as depression, panic attack, focus problem, difficulties with sleep, headaches, weight gain problem, multiple worries, mood swings, anger spells, fatigue, lack of maturation, memory problem. For kids, it's usually anger spells, fears, worries, frustration, refusing to go to school, game addiction, oppositional behavior, sleep problem, crying spells, poor relationship with parents and peers in school, lack of friends, poor grades, sadness, lack of motivation, and sensitivity issue. After that we discuss what kind of options are available to help with those symptoms. My belief is that almost all symptoms get better just with psychotherapy. It is about 60-70% of success due to psychotherapy and about 30-40% due to medication management. We also discuss non medication alternative treatment options. When we talk about pharmacotherapeutic options, we are trying to choose medication which would be helpful and cause less side effect. The client has a possibility to choose the most comfortable option. We're always trying to discuss stress that cause symptoms. For example, family relationship, problem with work , not being satisfied with the lifestyle, not having time for yourself at ctr. The client is always making the final decision regarding treatment options. The doctor just explaining options and is putting it on a table. Often, there is a need for additional evaluations such as neuropsychological evaluation, sleep study, consultation with a nutritionist, lab work, hormonal panel
