Marisa Colon, LMHC, is a licensed mental health counselor in Florida who has been practicing since 2021. She graduated with her Master’s of Science and Education Specialists Degree in Human and Counseling Services from Florida State University and a Bachelors in Psychology. Marisa believes that therapy is not “one size fits all” and that it is important for the client to have equal part in their therapeutic treatment, these are their goals that they are working toward together. She utilizes an eclectic approach to meet clients’ needs including cognitive-behavioral therapy, emotion-focused therapy, motivational interviewing with a person-centered approach. In her spare time, Marisa enjoys spending time with her pup Pearl, from going on walks to watching movies together. She’s a bit of a foodie and enjoys trying new food/drink places.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, we will start with brief introductions, get past all the formal stuff and dive into what your expectations of therapy are, what your expectations of a therapist are and ways I can shape or lean into these expectations.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I feel as if my ability to connect and create a strong relationship with my clients is one of my greatest strengths.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I love working with young adults, especially women, who are navigating the transition into adulthood with some difficulty. My clients are eager to improve, may have some coping strategies but are open to learning and implementing tools to achieve their goals. They often are overwhelmed, anxious, struggling with self-esteem and needing guidance through the transition.
