Hello! My name is Natalie Lewis, a licensed mental health counselor with a Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. I currently work with children, individuals, families, and couples for over 15 years, both online and in my private practice. Relationships can be challenging when you consider different personalities and expectations. My goal through therapeutic interventions is to assist my clients with managing anxiety, depression, stress, feeling overwhelmed, and feeling misunderstood.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Your first counseling session is about creating a safe, welcoming space where we begin getting to know each other. Think of it as the foundation-building phase—there’s no pressure to dive into everything at once. This session is focused on connection, comfort, and understanding your unique story. Within this session, together we will talk about the client's history, discuss their background, and address any concerns. I will provide psychoeducation regarding the counseling process and address the client's goals for counseling.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Relationships can be very fulfilling. Many strive to have meaningful relationships and positive connections in their lives. With the stress that comes with parenting, managing finances, as well as past traumatic experiences, relationships can become overwhelming, dysfunctional, and sometimes complicated. As a therapist, my goal will be to provide you with the tools and techniques essential to improving your relationships and enjoying your everyday life.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I graduated with my Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy and Mental Health Counseling from the University of Central Florida. I have experience working with individuals of all ages, couples, foster care, adoptive, and blended families. My clients are individuals, couples, and families who are ready to break generational cycles and cultivate deeper, more secure connections in their relationships. They may be navigating life transitions, unresolved childhood wounds, or patterns of emotional disconnection, and they’re seeking a safe, supportive space to do the deep, relational work.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have been using CBT in my practice for over 15+ years. I have seen how this approach has helped dozens of clients challenge recurring thoughts and manage their anxiety. We will use CBT to recognize how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence each other. We will then use that knowledge to change your thinking patterns, which will help you lead a less anxious and stressed life. My approach with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) involves taking time to explore the client's history, discuss their background, and address any concerns. I will then provide psychoeducation explaining how thoughts lead to feelings. Through examining the client's beliefs, I will demonstrate how distorted thoughts can lead to negative feelings. The goal of therapy will be to help the client change their thoughts.

Attachment-based

Attachment-based therapy (ABT) is a therapeutic approach grounded in attachment theory. This theory emphasizes the importance of early relationships with caregivers in shaping an individual's emotional and psychological development. My approach to ABT therapy focuses on helping clients understand and resolve the impact of disrupted or insecure early attachment experiences. We will focus on repairing disrupted early attachment experiences and working to build and strengthen the client's capacity for secure attachment. In addition, we will work together to improve emotional regulation, self-esteem, and interpersonal functioning.

Faith based therapy

My approach with counseling involves taking the first half of the first session to talk about the client's history, discuss their background, and address any concerns. I will further explore the client's desire to incorporate Christian counseling within the counseling process. I will then provide psychoeducation to discuss the goal of Christian counseling which is to assist faith-based clients with intentions of strengthening spiritual and emotional well-being. Christian counseling not only includes psychology to support a client but may also be guided by scripture and biblical teaching to help one manage their emotional and mental health. Christian Counseling can include both CBT and solution-focused therapy.
