Hey there, I am Ta’Tiana Miles and I’m a licensed independent clinical social worker dedicated to supporting individuals and couples in creating lasting positive change. I earned my Master of Social Work from the University of Southern California. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with clients from diverse backgrounds and in a variety of settings, including private practice, outpatient clinics, in the hospital setting, in the school setting and community mental health organizations. I’m continuously expanding my knowledge through workshops and conferences to ensure that I bring the most up-to-date and effective techniques to my practice. I believe therapy is a collaborative process, where we work together to explore the issues that matter most to you. By providing a safe, empathetic space, I help clients identify negative thought patterns and emotional blocks, and replace them with healthier, more balanced ways of thinking and coping. My work is grounded in the principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which is based on the understanding that our thoughts influence our feelings and behaviors. Using CBT techniques, I guide clients in identifying and challenging negative thinking patterns that may be contributing to their emotional struggles, whether that’s anxiety, depression, or stress. Additionally, I integrate Motivational Interviewing (MI) to help clients explore and resolve ambivalence, especially when it comes to making meaningful life changes.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In your first therapy session, we will start with introductions and gaining an understanding of the reason you have taken the courageous step to start therapy. It is a critical opportunity to establish rapport, set expectations, and begin the process of assessment. It is essential that as my client, you feel heard, understood, and supported, as this sets the tone for the therapeutic relationship and ongoing work.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a therapist, I strive to create a safe and compassionate space where you can feel heard and understood without judgment. I believe in the power of active listening, where I truly tune in to your thoughts and feelings, allowing you to express yourself fully. I approach our work together with authenticity and openness, bringing my whole self to our sessions. My goal is to meet you where you are, with warmth and empathy, helping you explore your experiences in a way that feels both comfortable and empowering. You can expect to be treated with respect, and I will always offer support in a way that honors your unique journey.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

ognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based, goal-oriented psychotherapy approach that focuses on the relationship between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. As a therapist, I use CBT to help clients identify and challenge distorted thinking patterns, alter unhelpful behaviors, and develop more adaptive coping strategies to live a more meaningful and fulfilling life.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a person-centered, collaborative approach designed to help individuals explore and resolve ambivalence about behavior change. As a therapist, I use MI to guide clients through the process of enhancing their motivation and commitment to change, while respecting their autonomy and individual values.
