I am Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Owner of Breathe Christian Clinical Art Therapy and Therapeutic Services. I have over 17 years of experience in both public and private sectors and hold a Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Arkansas-Little Rock and a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from Oakwood University. I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with an emphasis on Expressive Art Therapy and work with individuals of all ages, using comprehensive therapeutic services to help clients achieve emotional, spiritual and creative growth. I believes that sometimes there are no words for your pain, suffering or situation. What do you do, what can you do? Breathe...and together we will develop strategies to help you discover, express and heal.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together the majority of the time is spent going over general questions to get a sense of the client’s background, their past experience with therapy, and what issues they’re hoping to address. Very few, if any, topics are off limits. We may also discuss perspective therapy options and offer an outline of what the client can expect. If a client has questions about privacy and confidentiality, those concerns are also addressed. Logistical details, such as setting up a payment schedule, may happen in the first session as well.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

At Breathe, trust and collaboration is key. I am here to listen to your needs and hear what you have to say in words or through art. I am not here to talk at you but rather to work together with you. I enjoy seeing someone be able to Breathe in the midst of a storm and beyond, and in assisting others in remembering their strengths and allowing them a place to be heard.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

You know you need help, but don’t know who to talk to or if talking will even change anything. You’ve experienced a trauma and you are tired of talking about it, but you don’t want to feel “that feeling" anymore. You know that something is wrong, but you can’t seem to put words to it. Or maybe you have been to therapy before and just talking about it didn’t seem to help. Perhaps your child is not behaving in school like he or she used to, they’re no longer talking, grades are falling and their getting into fights. Maybe your family just doesn’t get it, if you could just do or be what they want things will be ok, but there not. Maybe you’ve got your life together, except on the inside you’re slowly coming apart. Outwardly you have all the pieces to life’s puzzle, but you can’t sleep and you’re not eating. Or perhaps you feel anxious or scared, you accept that your life is not that bad, things could be worse, but then come the panic attacks and the seemingly random health issues. My goal is to help you express “that feeling” through traditional therapy with emphasis on Expressive Art therapy (painting, drawing, music, movement and play). This will allow you to uncover what’s underneath all the conflict, anxiety, trauma, and stress and create a life filled with joy and positivity. Sometimes when no words exist, art speaks!

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

At Breathe, we use CBT to help clients resolve present-day challenges like depression or anxiety, relationship problems, anger issues, stress, or other common concerns that negatively affect mental health and quality of life. The goal of treatment is to help clients identify, challenge, and change maladaptive thought patterns in order to change their responses to difficult situations.

Christian Counseling

Christian counseling is a broad category of emotional and relationship support that draws on the principles of Christianity to help you cope with challenges. At Breathe, we believe religious faith can play a significant role in an individual’s life. As a Christian therapist, we offer prospective therapy clients who identify as Christian, feel more comfortable seeing a counselor who shares their beliefs or who is at least prepared to discuss their faith openly and without judgment.

Play Therapy

Play therapy is typically targeted to children ages 3 to 11 who have social, emotional, or behavioral difficulties. Play therapy is real therapy conducted in the medium of play. At Breathe, we provide play therapy takes in a comfortable play area where few rules are imposed on a child, allowing the child free and spontaneous expression of feelings.

Family Therapy

Family therapy is a form of therapy that addresses the behaviors of all family members and the way these behaviors affect not only individual family members but also relationships between members and the family unit as a whole. At Breathe, family therapy is focused on communication, coping skills, and constructive problem-solving, as ways to build trust and strengthen healthy relationships in a family system.
