Hello, I'm Michaela! Are you looking for a safe place to be yourself and open up about difficult things? I recognize the strength it takes to open up and be vulnerable, and I would be honored to be a part of your healing journey! I believe I have a calming and empathetic nature that will make the clients that I work with feel right at home. Not to mention, I like to sprinkle in a bit of humor and creativity. Do you ever feel stuck in life and you're hoping for change? I seek to nurture positive growth and change. Ultimately, my primary goal is to create a nonjudgmental space for clients to authentically be themselves and heal.
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
In our first session, this will be an opportunity for me to get to know you better. I will ask questions about your history and background information so I can better understand the whole picture and get a sense of where we can go from there. I will also ask you about your treatment goals since this a collaborative process where we can work together on meeting your needs.
What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?
I've received comprehensive training in DBT Therapy and therefore like to provide DBT skills learning as part of my practice. I also utilize mindfulness techniques, CBT for changing thought processes, and somatic exercises for traumatic stress. I am also Certified in ART therapy for trauma resolution which involves using eye movements and imagery to facilitate healing of traumatic memories. I also incorporate creative expression exercises as part of my practice as well.
Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
I feel that having both personal and professional experience helps me to better understand where you may be coming from. I also feel that my training can help with providing useful tips and skills and that my easy-going manner can help you feel validated and listened to.
