Congratulations and Welcome! You've taken an important step. It takes strength and courage to consider therapy. I am a licensed psychotherapist with over 25 years of experience. It has been my great honor to work with individuals as we explore areas of concern that can get in the way of a full life. Things such as anxiety, depression, stress, grief, loss, trauma, childhood issues-these can affect is and make living in the present more challenging.
The first session is a courageous, important first step. I will follow your lead, asking questions when pertinent, and I will listen to what your concerns are, what your hopes for therapy are, what made you reach out for an appointment. We all struggle at various points in our lives and reaching out is an act of bravery and a hopeful commitment to self.
We will explore thoughts and feelings to help you get a better understanding of your life. We will talk about concepts like self-compassion and mindfulness as you take the insights from therapy and integrate them into your everyday life. I will provide a safe, empathic space for you, whether in person or virtually, helping you understand and negotiate the world around you.
I work with individuals from late teens through the entire adult life cycle. There can be challenges with each phase of life and together, we will explore those concerns in an effort to live a more fulfilling life.
CBT helps people identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors. Together, we will explore this and help reshape these thought patterns that can keep us stuck.
A psychodynamic approach looks at thoughts, emotions and past experiences, focusing on identifying recurring patterns, both in and out of our awareness, to gain insight into how the past can influence our present day. Once that occurs, that insight can help make profound shifts in our thoughts and behaviors.
Grief and loss come to everyone. Grief therapy aims to help people cope with the physical, emotional, social, spiritual and cognitive responses to loss.
This approach involves learning and practicing mindfulness techniques to develop a more present-oriented way of life.
