Emily Myers

LPC, 5 years of experience

Hi! I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC) based in Pennsylvania. I received my Masters degree from Kutztown University in clinical mental health counseling. I have been practicing in the field for 5 years. I help clients lean into their strengths in the face of challenges to maintain security within themselves. I appreciate an eclectic approach to allow for flexible interventions based on clients varying needs.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session together, we'll start by getting to know each other a little bit better. I can tell you about my practice and approach and address any questions you may have about the counseling process. I would also encourage you to share some of what brought you to the point of seeking counseling. At your pace we will collaborate to identify therapeutic goals. This will help me create an individualized plan for us to work through in the following sessions.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I am able to provide a warm, friendly, and open presence during sessions. I also value practicing with authenticity, respect, and care deeply about the goals of my clients. I recognize that opening up in counseling sessions is a vulnerable experience thus I prioritize creating a safe and inviting environment to allow clients to express themselves with honesty. In sessions, I practice with a holistic approach to provide comprehensive exploration and to allow for vast growth.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I have worked with a range of clients over the years including individuals who have been struggling with substance use and/or eating disorders. I have also worked with individuals who identify in the LGBTQIA+ population to help provide an affirming and non-judgmental space. I enjoy working with individuals who are open-minded and curious to explore past, present, and future to foster a fulfilling and balanced life.

My treatment methods

Eclectic

Many people process information differently so it is important to create individualized care. I have used CBT (strengths-based CBT), DBT, motivational interviewing, and person-centered frameworks with various clients over the last 5 years. All methods aim to provide clarity, create balance, and empower clients.
